Anise (a-neece) is the daughter of Prince Gerard of Amber and Alana Wells, an athlete, recreational sailor and philanthropist in a Shadow called Herion.  Herion is modern, Earth-like, a place where the haves and have-nots rarely mix socially due to a financial caste system that has been in place as a form of plutocracy.  Upward mobility is difficult in Herion due to the great amount of inherited wealth that is passed from generation to generation of the upper crust, but does have a system of rewarding the truly elite from the lower classes.

Alana was such a woman, born to modest means, her superb athletic and academic abilities, along with her beauty, allowed her to ascend into the very top levels of Herionic society, but she rarely felt as if she belonged or was truly accepted. Herion consists of one large super-continental land mass, with the rest of the planet covered in a great ocean, with minor, isolated populations of ‘natural living’ humans found in those places that have not been converted into vacation destinations for the wealthy.

Taking to sailing more and more, a form of escapism for Alana, Alana met Gerard as he crossed the Herionic seas, using them as a shortcut along a nautical Shadow path.  Together they worked to save another small vessel that was foundering in a storm tossed sea.  Anise is the product of a passionate love afair between Alana and Gerard on a sparsely inhabited island paradise.  Alana returned to Herion proper, refusing to divulge the name of the child’s Father, and took to setting up foundations to fund Universities and medical clinics in the poorer parts of Herion, using the fortune she had amassed.

Anise spent half of each year growing up in Herion with her Mother, attending school and breaking most of her Mother's athletic records, with the other half of each year spent in and near Forest Arden living with, Gerard, when available, or watched over by Julian.  Her home with Gerard is near the coast, where Arden meets the sea, but unlike her Mother and Father, Anise has a fondness not for the sailing and the oceans, but for the forest and those who dwell deep within it.

In Herion, Anise lived a more 'modern' life. While many of her peers pitied her given that her Mother did not intend to gift her with a financial inheritance, while others believed her mysterious Father to be a man of great means and instead envy her deeply.

For her part, Anise is growing up in Herion as a Tom-boy, though a very pretty one who has her girlish side, one whose very nature is to be the protector of others.  She seems interested in the environment and nature, being rather ‘green’ and egalitarian in her views by Herionic standards.

Anise has little interest in politics, as those of Herion are repugnant to her, hence Gerard has kept her out of the mix of Court life in Amber, though she has visited the great city and Castle Amber on a few occasions.  She is most at home in Arden and in the villages that dot the great forest.



Phsycially, Anise has sandy brown hair, with some natural curl to it, and medium brown eyes.  She stands 5'9" tall and possesses a strong, athletic, but not bulky build, and definitely has some very feminine curves.  Anise' colors are a deep sea blue, a leafy green and a soft, warm brown as her background color.
