Although the current ideal of Princess Deirdre very nearly sanctifies her memory, equating her in song and tale with the bravest and most beautiful woman in Amber's history, the reality that her siblings remember was much more complex.

Deirdre was a moody and calculating woman, one who perhaps played the game of Amber's politics the best of all its daughters.  Although she stood to battle more often and more readily than some of her sisters, she preferred to fight with words and looks.  Fiercely loyal to those few family she truly loved, it was not always easy for an outsider to tell which those really were.
