The Banshee, also Bean Sidhe in proper Gaelic; called Ban Sith in the Highlands, is a wailing spirit affiliated with death. Proper Lore suggests this spirit was a woman or elf, raped and murdered by a powerful man, filled with the need for vengeance. Their wailing is quite deadly.
