Physical Description:  Bernarde’s hair is light brown with the first traces of silver along the sides.  It’s always neatly trimmed, and his beard is very short and also well manicured.  He dresses well, with clean and pressed clothes, and clean and polished boots each morning.  He is six feet tall, with a lean and agile build.  His hands are large and his fingers strong and dexterous.  He always seems to be concerned about something.

Personality: Quiet, Focused, Caring.

Bernarde is a perfectionist with high standards for himself, and the things he does.    He was different in the past, with a more carefree, less driven attitude, but the past is the past.  His primary motivation now is his children, though at times, solving a problem or making something of high quality for the sheer joy of it is a pleasant and relaxing diversion for him.  He is friendly and talkative, and has an artistic side- he probably could have been a bard if he wanted to.  Or perhaps he was: despite being quite the story teller, there are some parts of his past he does not talk about.


        Years ago, Bernarde was an adventurer, rogue, thief (but only for just causes!) swashbuckler type who laughed in the face of danger and lived for excitement.  Time goes by.  Things change.  He found other things in his life that were more important, and danger was no longer fun, especially when it took loved ones.

       It has been well over a decade since then.  Knives can still move in his hands like a blur… but they cut hair, trim leather and carve wood, now.  He still has a knack for intricate gadgets, weapons and tools, but now he makes them to sell to others, mostly.  As a jack-of-all trades tinker, he’s become prosperous, aided in his endeavor by his brood of children (minus one, and minus their mother) over whom he dotes, and for whom he wants any future… but the adventuring one.

    Sometimes he tells stories of those earlier days.  Sometimes they are true, sometimes wildly embellished- he likes to entertain as he works, since his hands and tools seem to know what they are doing, all by themselves.  He is also a musician- the same quick and clever hands that do his work are also well suited to playing instruments.  Some people tell him he should be playing professionally, but Bernarde doesn't think he has the talent for it.
