A short and wiry gentleman of predominantly Irish decent, Vince is third generation US Navy (grandfather was a Gunner's Mate), second generation special forces (his father being a retired EOD Senior Chief), and the first SEAL in the family.

It was a wonder to his father when he went in to the Navy choosing to be what is often considered a lowly "deck ape" (or Boatswain's Mate) as it's generally considered the least intelligent job in the Navy.  And then he went to BUD/S straight out of A school.

Rook was the shortest in his BUD/S class at 5'8", but even under the pressure and abuse of often being referred to as "Runt" he proved to have a thicker skin and better stamina than most.  His instructors stopped calling him "Runt" well before his classmates because he took his lumps better than most, never complained, and only answered questions with "HOORAH."

Though he performed well through training and earned his Budwieser (Special Warfare Insignia), he had a mouth that sometimes caught him in trouble because he was prone to saying what he thought.  After 16 years in as a hard charger the Navy turned him out due to high year tenure.

He had some savings and his separation leave kept him going easy for the better part of the year.  But eventually he found himself bouncing at a friend bar on weekends and spending his week days working as a beach lifeguard, both part time.  It helped him keep fit and keep some of his military skills sharp.

And then he got the call.
