Philip Cobbleswrought

Name: Phillip Cobbleswrought
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Nationality: English
Deck: The Geologist (Rock-Type Synchro Deck)

Personality: Phillip is generally very calm and polite but comes off as cold to most people. He borders on the melancholic much of the time, but it takes little to buoy his mood; some good food and conversation can pull him out of his shell. As introverted as he is, it's no surprise that Phillip has no interest in people with nothing interesting about them. To those he does find interesting, Phillip becomes surprisingly articulate and receptive, even warm. Like a jewelcutter, a well-formed and interesting person captures him like the sight of a flawless gemstone. He appears to be at his best when interesting ideas are flowing freely and he is actively learning from the conversation or solving a problem. He is still awkward when it comes to personal, emotive conversation, and clams up when people express any sort of attachment to him, even simple concern, but for his friends, he knows to accept these feelings.

When concentrating upon something, be it a duel or just an essay, Phillip is at his most intense. He often loses himself in tasks, and neglects his health, losing sleep and skipping meals to continue reading, deck-building, and researching. He isn't tournament material, or in his words, 'I haven't the constitution for it', but he is an intelligent, formidable opponent who people overlook at their peril.

Appearance:
Phillip is rather plain; fair-skinned, of average height and reedy in build, with brown eyes and curly brown hair. He wears hex-framed glasses, and dresses like some old man from the English countryside, wearing a tweed jacket, khaki pants, brown leather shoes, and an olive-green shirt.

Background:
Phillip comes from a family of professional duelists and is the third child of the Oxford-Cobbleswrought family; an old family of stoneworkers-turned-gentry in central England. Having been raised with little supervision or expectations on the part of his parents, Phillip took to reading and education with gusto, and became a geological and archaeological savant as he grew up. His duelling interests reflected this. Unlike the clean, crisp decks of spellcasters and fairies his family used, Phillip became known in his hometown for duelling with something as absurd as a rock-type synchro deck. While he was nowhere in the league of his older brother and sister, Francis and Elizabeth, Phillip has surprised many people with how effectively he can make use of as underused a monster type as rocks.

Phillip presently lives in New Domino City and, despite being 18, is soon entering his second year of Duel University, having been put forward a grade in Duel Academy. He received an offer for a scholarship abroad on the condition he finished Duel Academy in New Domino, and maintained his continuing education in the city. As of now, his only known acquaintances are the Whitehall Family, who run the Cat's Paw Diner at Torokami and 227th. Like Katherine Whitehall, he shirks archetypes and has cobbled his deck together purely around undersupported Rock-type monsters, with Earth-tuning support.
