X-Men: Worlds Turning

It has been a time of relative peace for the X-Men. Threats no longer loom on a daily basis, and life has begun to approach what some people might refer to as 'normal'. So for reasons that varied from one to the next, the core members of the team have departed for the moment. Some have left seeking relaxation, others on personal business to which they were required to attend. Still others gave no reason at all, but simply packed a bag and went.

Indeed, several of them have even disappeared. Perhaps of their own volition, perhaps not... but without a trace, regardless.

To underscore the lull in what has often seemed like an endless war for survival, Xavier himself has gone on an extended retreat, and left the mansion, the team, and the school in the hands of Magneto himself, with whom there has been a tenuous but heartfelt reconciliation. Though the two may never truly see eye to eye, Magneto has agreed to try violence as a last resort only, and act as caretaker of Xavier's dream.

Time at Xavier's school has genuinely been devoted to learning. Those who have remained behind or joined in the absence of the more iconic members have come on their journeys of self-discovery, to learn more about their powers and their place in a world that cannot remain quite so peaceful for much longer.

For there are always new menaces lurking.

...and time passes...

...and heroes return?

Some of the missing mutants have returned from space, after a period of nearly three years. Not merely off-world, but in stasis for most of the time, they have come back expecting to have lost a matter of days, not years.

Can old-school heroes meld with a school now run by a new-world Magneto?

We have rated this story 'Adult' primarily to allow for detailed and realistic combat, when it occurs, but also with the understanding that relationships happen. It is not rated Adult in order to be a string of pornographic encounters. There will be adventures and battles, but also character development and relationships (and probably an unavoidable bit of drama). So we're keeping the story away from prying eyes and those who may not be mature enough to handle certain themes. It's not an open invitation to run around like it's spring break in Miami Beach.

Characters should be original, but there may be some canon X-Men permitted. (If you really want to take on a canon character, we will need to be convinced that you will do the character justice.) By 'original' we don't merely mean that it should be your own creation, but also that it should be a new creation. Don't bring us the same character that you've played in a few dozen other games since junior high. This is about discovering someone new, even to yourself.

If you're going to attempt a canon character, you should situate that character at a relatively early stage in his or her life/character development. The original five X-Men and other early characters are simply off-limits, though.
