With straight brown hair, brown eyes, and a simple beard, Ergobast looks exceptionally mundane for a Gnome.  His simple leather hat, sturdy brown clothes and red jacket play further into this carefully maintained image.  Even his most gaudy piece of jewelry, a blue crystal shard hanging from a leather necklace, seems simple and unimportant.  His well-cared for arms and his well made food clearly imply that this is a responsible citizen.  His words are generally kindly and carefully chosen, and he has wrinkles in the corners of his eyes from many hours of happy smiling.

Certainly such a responsible seeming Gnome would not be the type to cause any type of disturbance or commotion.

At least it usually lets him get one over on the new passers-through.  Those around the village, however, know that Ergobast is not just a tiny person with cooking skills, but is a trickster after Garl's own heart.
