Claire, aged 25 newly married, no children.

Verna is the youngest of four siblings (Marie, Samuel, and Claire), and considered the outcast runt of her family. Her mother died bringing her into this world, which has caused some resentment by her older brother and sister. Both Samuel and his sister Claire were old enough to realize that their mother died giving birth, and would have preferred that Veerna had died instead of their mother. Her father a mere peasant wanted nothing to do with the baby girl who killed his wife.

Thus, it was her oldest sister Marie who essentially raised Verna. When she married she took her younger sister to live with her on her husbands farm. Verna's adopted father knew how to use a long bow and when she showed interest he taught the boy how to use the weapon.

About the time Verna came of age the banners the lord to whom she was bequeathed to called in his banner men. This included her uncle. Not wanting to live the life of a peasant girl Verna joined her uncle.

The two both served as long bowmen during the military campaign. During a battle the lines were broken and everyone was fighting afoot. The tide turned and not in the favor of the side that Verna fought on. Many men chose to flee instead of continuing to fight. Verna stayed on to fight and came across the lords son who was wounded and about to be captured. It was Verna who rescued the young man, and carried him to safety. After the battle Verna was knighted for this act of bravery. As a peasant raised to knighthood, she was only granted a small piece of land, the very land she grew up on with her sister's family.

Verna served as a Knight serving along her liege lords son as a body guard. One small problem occurred in which the Lords son and Verna became intimate.  The Lord found out about this and promptly married his son off to a noble girl and sent Verna on a mission......
