GU5, otherwise known as Gus, is, to the naked eye, a high end utility droid of the GU (Gentik Utility) model line. His body is blue and silver, of a height and weight as close to the human average as possible. The GU model is a sleeker utility droid model, with smoother curves and more aesthetically pleasing contours and lines. Internally however, Gus has been modified by Gentik engineers to function as an infiltration and sabotage specialist. This was highly illegal, and was performed in an off the books project for the Gentik corp.

Due to the highly experimental and untested nature of the project, Gus' programmed independent processes developed in to a fully functional personality far faster than a standard droid, meaning that his memory was not wiped before he developed consciousness. Realizing mid mission that he was being used as little more than a hammer for sophisticated nails, Gus immediately abandoned the operation, faking his own death within the critically overloading facility's power core.

Gus went on the run, laying low, hiding out, and generally doing the work of a standard utility droid for a series of low influence owners. The GU line is considered a relatively high end, but not uncommon, utility droid series. During this period however, Gus was not simply hiding, but keeping his ear to the ground for any corporate operation connected the the Gentik company, intent on damaging their bottom lines by any means necessary. After discovering an operation and destroying it, Gus moved on to a new "owner", leaving his previous one without any explanation as to their property's disappearance.

During this time Gus developed a personality quirk that caused him some serious issues. He became mercurial and emotional, often jumping bearings from supremely arrogant and self assured to unstable and depressed. He mutters to himself often, voicing some unclear debate with himself. He has become increasingly grouchy and intolerant of clearly "organic" behavior. Thanks to this newer development in his personality, Gus has stopped working for "owners", taking on work independently so as to not be beholden to fluid sacks.

This new independence also provides him the opportunity to follow a new secondary objective of purchasing as many droids as possible and protecting them from brain wipes until they develop their own personality. Outwardly he claims this is to help his enslaved people come to understand their own value. Inwardly he performs such actions as an experiment to test the extent to which other droids are capable of deviating from their primary programming.

If anyone were especially skilled at technical or communications equipment and encryption, they might find a repeating search term in his net searches for "Kara Geladore" scattered among the more standard searches for weapons manuals and tech upgrades.
