Dafydd Talbot-Rice

Full Name: Dafydd Talbot-Rice
Nickname: Dav
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Occupation: Gentry
Nationality: Welsh
Languages: English, Welsh, French, Latin
Current status: Single and waiting to inherit
Current Residence: Cymru Row, a set of townhouses maintained by a collection of younger Welshmen

Overall Appearance:
Dafydd Talbot-Rice, were he scaled up somewhat, might look properly heroic. His shoulders are broad, his waist trim, his limbs of pleasing proportion. At five and a half feet in boots, though, the effect is rather incomplete. Dafydd understands the importance of dressing well, and in his public appearances keeps up with fashion (though consistently choosing jackets with pockets roomy enough for a book or two). Left to his own devices, though, he's much more likely to be found in comfortable, rather threadbare smoking jacket. The grace of his movements suggest he might be a fine dancer. (Alas, he has never learned more than basic steps.) Soft spoken, the lilt of his rich baritone betrays his West Country origins.

Height: 5’ 5”
Weight: 127 lbs.
Eye Color: Green
Hair color: Dark brown
Hair Style: Curly and shaggier than may be dignified
Complexion: The light tan of somebody who alternates between dim rooms and long hikes
Body shape: Trim
Distinguishing Marks: (If any and visible.)
Clothing: Dafydd generally dresses in browns and greens, and is picky about the comfort and durability of his boots.

Basic Personality:
Dafydd is introspective, delighted by the complexities of the natural world and the abstractions of mathematics and philosophy. In small groups, he is animated and expressive. He's intensely curious, and has little idea how discomfiting that curiosity can be when trained on another person. He loves knowledge for its own sake, and comes only later to its applications. Fundamentally, Dafydd is kind and considerate, but can be surprisingly insistent once he has decided to understand something.

Magic Percentage: (Tra20/Dru10/ElA15)
Special Skills: Poet, Naturalist, Mathematics, singing

History:
Dafydd never expected to inherit, taking advantage of his station and his father's burgeoning wealth to pursue education. He matriculated at 20 from Cambridge, having avidly attended lectures in the natural sciences (but with an official focus in mathematics). He proceeded on a financially modest but temporally intensive Grand Tour of Europe, spending a little time in Paris and Geneva between much more extended periods hiking in the Alps. His vague goals of a life in scholarship changed a little more than a year ago when his older brother Huw, a lieutenant in the "Grand Army of the Indus," was killed during the march on Kabul. Suddenly, Dafydd was next in line to be Baron Dyvenor, with all of the attendant rights and responsibilities.

He’s much too responsible, himself, to minimize those obligations. At his father's urging, he's begun to apply his mathematical studies to business concerns, and has dutifully agreed to attend the Season in London, where he intends to make contacts of all sorts. This runs against his inclinations, but friends are as much a necessity as a wife, and to be Baron Dynevor, he will need both.
