[Insert] World Engine Discussion

Roleplaying is a conversation. You and the other players go back and forth, talking about these fictional characters in their fictional circumstances
doing whatever it is that they do. Like any conversation, you take turns, but it’s not like taking turns, right? Sometimes you talk over each other, interrupt, build on each others’ ideas, monopolize. All fine.

Sometimes the world is a world of fantastic adventure. Sometimes a world of Action Movies, or Apocalyptica. Sometimes it's a world of many Uncharted Worlds1. Sometimes you play spies, sometimes Space Marines. Other times you might play a Freak with a Pink Mohawk, or a Zombie hunter.

Why you're here, is because you like any or all of those possibilities, and you like a world that places fiction over function. Or if you're like me, you like a system that lets you be a gearhead, fiddle with dials, hack into it, and whatnot. I got into the system because of a hack, Dungeon Worlds.

Since then, I have created Playbooks, moves, and am constantly thinking about some kind of house rule for the World Engine. The World Engine community has been for me, somewhat like another community that I was in for about 10 years once was. There is so much support, that I would like to reciprocate on some level. It has been suggested that I make it not so much about one particular world engine, but about all of them. Thus I have made it so.

1Weird when you think about it, but it's all about what works within the fiction.
