Normally, Sam Reis is a big blonde white guy who, despite having a room filling presence, is surprisingly quiet and subdued in what he does. He generally prefers to solve crime and problems from the shadows rather than being open about it.

However, when he becomes the Altruist, his hair goes black and he becomes much more bombastic and confident, smashing in doors first and seemingly asking questions later.
