Rhiannon Harris

Rhiannon Harris
Rhiannon is a tall lanky woman with long limbs and long fingers, her height would probably suit her better if she didn't have the metabolism of a hummingbird, it's not that she doesn't eat, quite the contrary, Rhiannon is almost always snacking away on something, only it isn't ever anything that adds to her gangling physique. She's a vegetarian and not for any good reason either, it isn't that she has some moral objection to eating meat, it's that she doesn't like the way it tastes, doesn't like the texture. It doesn't help that she doesn't have a sweet tooth either and when she does indulge in anything it's a lite beer at a pub, lite cos she knows she can't handle her alcohol and while she is a pleasant drunk, she hates feeling sick.

She dresses well and takes care of herself besides, which goes a good long way toward making her attractive despite how thin she is, life as a high school teacher keeps her presentable as well, though she feels odd in anything that isn't a suit and odder still without a pen behind her ear and a tablet in her face. She keeps her blonde hair short and hides her brilliantly vibrant celery green eyes behind a pair of unflattering, large rim glasses cos she can't stand the idea of touching her eye to put in contacts.

Rhiannon would be the first to tell anyone she was a serious geek as well, and anyone that enters her office usually gets that impression right away anyway, there are simply too many Catwoman figures and statues scattered about for her to be anything else. She doesn't have very many actual friends either, none in fact, cos she spent most of her time caring for her ailing father and he's only been gone for a few months.

Rhiannon is exceptionally intelligent, well read, and holds a master's degree in Classic Literature, she can read, write and speak a multitude of ancient languages and studies various things, such as philosophy and history, for fun. She's incredibly chatty when given the chance, starved for conversation with anyone like minded, but doesn't ever seek anyone out for fear of harsh judgement, she's lived a relatively sheltered life and really, if not for her time away in University she wouldn't have lived much of one at all.

History
Her father wasn't someone that should have had children, he saw it more as an obligation he had to submit to then anything else, something he had to do cos it's what men did, there was no desire on his part to be a loving father, so it was a good thing Rhiannon's mother was as wonderful as she was. Rhiannon wanted for nothing more then her father's approval growing up but he only ever saw her as a weakling and a burden, something he had to take care of and provide for cos again, that was what a man did. There was never any question in her mind that he was disappointed she hadn't been a boy, and worse still, she was a frail and fragile academic as well, too clumsy for sports and not pretty enough to be a cheerleader.

He disapproved of everything she ever did, it never mattered what it was, she was wrong, or it wasn't good enough and worse, while she was away studying in University she went and got herself diagnosed with uterine cancer, so now she was 'broken' as well. When she told her parents all he had done was grunt and tell her mother he had been right when she was born, that his line would die with her, he wrote Rhiannon off as a total failure and was completely absent through most of her ordeal. Their 'relationship' broke down completely after that and it wasn't until her mother died that Rhiannon finally spoke with him again. She moved back home to carry on taking care of him where her mother left off at his insistence and has dedicated most of her life to his care.

He left her the house and all his assets when he passed, less she felt cos he wanted to and more cos there wasn't anyone else he could leave it to, which when combined with her already lofty savings, made her a little more well off then she expected to be at thirty-six. With more time on her hands then she has any clue what to do with Rhiannon has found herself relatively aimless, in desperate need of something to shake her life up.
