Specialty: Mending (Minor Mending) - A complex and difficult craft to master, Mending can do wonders when coupled with other magical Disciplines and Specialties. Menders themselves tend to be particularly skilled in magical item enchantment and maintenance and are sometimes more attuned to their use than others.

Minor Menders have the natural ability to repair small, hand-sized objects or small parts of larger ones, as well as the skill with detailed and complex repair. While not necessarily more powerful, Major Menders have the knack to repair and maintain larger objects or a large number of small objects but tend to be less inclined towards more complicated applications of their abilities. In other words, Major Menders can repair larger items but Minor Menders are more skilled when it comes to the finer details of more complex parts. All menders have a natural ability towards most Mending applications and their focus simply represents a more natural aptitude with specific applications of their magic.

THE PHYSICAL:


Physical Description: 6'1, 175 lbs, dark hair, light blue eyes. It's been some years since Zeke has been clean shaven and he doesn't intend to change that at this point.

Distinguishing Features: Due to his age, Zeke looks more like he'd be a professor at the university rather than a student. Calloused hands from hard labor, some small scarring on his arms due to labor.

Description: Zeke isn't overly joyful or friendly but he'd never turn his back on someone in need. He's distrustful of beautiful and popular women, mostly because of the trauma he experienced at the hands of a beautiful, popular woman. He's even-tempered but known to become irritated when bothered while meticulously working on his trinkets and enchantments.

Goals: To grow as a Magician in his abilities, as well as acclimate back into normal society after having been gone for so many years.

Likes: Roast pork, Chinese food, studying, mending, working on his enchantments.

Dislikes: Dishonesty and bullies.

THE BIOGRAPHICAL:

Character History: Ezekial was born to parents who had no ability in or knowledge of magic. No belief at all that it was real. From a young age, Zeke's meticulous nature was blatantly obvious as he constantly tinkered with his toys, dismantling them in order to rebuild them in the way he wanted them to appear or function. Even as he grew into his teenage years, he was constantly working on his friends' cars and rebuilding smaller engine parts. He fixed anything from musical jewelry boxes to carburetors for his classmates and eventually scored a job in an auto mechanic shop that helped him to save money for college. College never happened because life got in the way. Zeke liked his job, he liked how important that it made him feel and excuse after excuse was quietly given in his own mind never to apply himself towards anything greater.

Two days after his twenty-second birthday, Zeke opened the door to leave the garage for the day and found himself walking onto the Brakebills campus, where he was greeted by the scout who had been watching him. Zeke took the exam and passed it. He was admitted into Brakebills and he jumped at the chance after finding out that magic was truly real. He worked hard and studied all of his first year, absorbing all the knowledge that he could force into his head and he practiced until his hands ached and cramped. Throwing himself into another focus, the tuts appealed to Zeke's meticulous nature, and he worked hard to not only nail the tuts but to also find ways to make them more efficient.

About halfway through the first year, May Templeton finally spoke to Zeke. It was no secret that he was sweet on her, as he had admired the 3rd year student all through his studies and tried several times to date her. However, something always came up and though it eventually set off alarm bells in his mind, May was so convincing in her excuses and her feigned desire to date him, even though she was laughing with other students behind his back. One night, during one hell of a kegger at the Physical Kids cottage, Zeke was working on a small pendant enchantment and got up from the desk in his room to try and find another part. When he opened the door, May Templeton stood there. She breezed by him with a sultry smile and started to flirt with him. He fell for it hook, line, and sinker. May told him that she wanted time alone with him, but she wanted quiet. Being fond of quiet himself, Zeke agreed when she offered to take him to Fillory to get away from all the noise and be alone.

It was all part of an elaborate prank. Leave him in Fillory for a little while, come back and get him. Perhaps it would make him angry enough to never try to pursue her again. Only she didn't realize, as she hadn't taken that any trips prior, that the time difference between Earth and Fillory would end up being so far apart. By the time she came back to get him, Zeke was long gone, having set out in search of help after being left for so long. It took two days for May to fess up to the Dean and by that time, weeks had passed in Fillory. May was punished for her crime via expulsion and a full memory wipe of everything having to do with Magic and Brakebills, her future snuffed out by her own cruelty. While the faculty went to Fillory in search of Zeke, they were unable to locate him and feared he was dead, and thus needed to cover up his disappearance. Zeke's family was memory wiped enough to implant false memories of his death and funeral, and Brakebills continued on as normal.

Zeke adjusted to life in Fillory over the years, becoming a farm hand and eventually working himself into an apprenticeship under a blacksmith. He still continued his tinkering and enchantments in his spare time and helped the farms to run more efficiently in their gathering with his inventions. Ten years later, with no wife and no children, Zeke stepped into the stables at the farm and found himself in Brakebills. Without an explanation as to how he appeared there (it is still a mystery he hopes to solve), he experienced sensory overload and was taken to the Infirmary after being found by students. While Zeke had aged ten years while in Fillory, only four months had passed on Earth since his disappearance. After the Dean explained what had happened while he was gone, Zeke was permitted a respite to acclimate to being back on Earth and afterward he was permitted to start his second-year studies. Given the option to reunite with his family, Zeke refused, knowing there would have to be too much meddling in the memories of his family. He had done his mourning and so had they. Every now and then when he misses his family, he calls them up under the guise of being a salesman, just to hear their voices for a little while.

Zeke is currently in his second year of studies and continues to tinker with repairs to magical items and enchanting small pendants, talismans, and charms that he creates.
