Infelix Austria
It is late fall 1744 in Bohemia and the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748) is well underway, roiling the lands of Central and Western Europe.The young king, Frederick II, of Prussia has again violated Habsburg territory in yet a second surprise attack against the Queen of Hungary, Maria Theresa, heir to Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor. The Pragmatic Sanction is in tatters, the province of Silesia groans under the Prussian yoke.
Having exited the war in 1742, Frederick has re-rentered the conflict with his eyes on a new prize - Bohemia. With Austrian armies engaged in Northern Italy and the German States, the Prussian adventurer has wrought secret agreements with Louis XV and seized the opportunity to wrest further territory from Maria Theresa, just as the tides of war were turning in her favor.
Yet, in these dark days, the Bohemians are proving that, while bereft of an avenging army, they will not allow the blue clad invaders from Brandenburg to remain in their homeland unmolested.
