Nestled deep within the underdark, a great deep gnome city of Bergamquartz once stood. A proud and noble city that navigated the petty and villainous  scheming of the neighboring (and rival) Drow cities of Barathamoz and Vrym.

The Gemfinders were one the more prominent (if not prosperous) clans. The family could trace their lineage over centuries and among their ranks they could claim several noted explorers, burrow wardens and even a high priest or two. Therarak was an affable and bright young boy who dreamed of working with the machinery that powered the gem mines.

All of his dreams were destroyed when Bergamquartz was consumed by a civil war fueled by the Drow. With his city destroyed and most of his clan killed, Therarak had no choice but to flee. On the surface he quickly discovered that his skills could serve him in his quest to become an adventurer. He dreams of becoming powerful enough to restore what was so cruelly taken.
