Galen Solorien

Galen is the son of Yolande of Celene, and Bronwyn, a Ranger of the Gnarley Forest.  He was conceived when his father mistook Yolande for her identical twin sister, Balantis, and was born at Solarian Keep the same day as his half sisters Erina and Selena, a few hours later.  Yolande left all three with Bronwyn, while taking Balantis back to Enstad to imprison her because of her association with the Cult of Tharizdun.

Bronwyn found caring for three infants very difficult, and sent Galen to live with a local lord Bronwyn was friends with.  Galen did not see much of his father as a child, as Bronwyn spent many years searching for Erina after her kidnapping by the lich Worthange.  However, after Theala rescued Bronwyn and returned him to Oerth, Bronwyn returned to his home in the Gnarley and reconciled with his son.  The two became close prior to Bronwyn's death some years later.

Galen grew up in human society and considers himself human.  He became a knight and later a Paladin of Pelor, and was granted possession of the run down Solarian keep, on the edges of the Kron Hills, on Verbobonc's southern border with Celene.  The keep was in disrepair, and Galen struggled to rebuild it with little support (since Celene was not considered a threat, it was not a possession that brought much prestige).  Around that time, he was reunited with his half sister Theala (Erina), and the two quickly became close.  Theala, for her part, was thrilled to find another member of her family.  She gave Galen the financial support he needed to restore and man Solarian Keep.

Galen found himself with political opportunities after the Grey Elves left Celene.  Turrosh Mak quickly took advantage of the disarray to invade and take control of Celene, and no one was in a position militarily to stop him.  Solarian Keep became an important part of Verbobonc's defense as a result.  Galen was ennobled for that reason, and in part because of his efforts to assist Viscount Langerd during the Blackthorn Invasion of Verbobonc City.

Galen is fond of his sister, though her stubbornness sometimes frustrates him to no end.  He wants her to be happy, but his attempts to get her to settle down and life as a proper woman often create tension between the two.  He has attempted to arrange many political marriages for Theala, and none have succeeded; the suitors all refuse the arrangement after meeting Theala (the one who did not was the only one Theala did not object to, but he was killed defending Verbobonc City during the Blackthorn Invasion).  In order to build the political ties he needed, he finally agreed to a match with Llewellen, a High Elf from the Duchy of Ulek; she is not unattractive in human terms, but is not considered a great beauty by elven terms.  The marriage has worked out well thus far, though it was not the marriage he would have chosen.

Galen stands 5'10", is physically fit, with auburn hair and malachite green eyes.  He is strong willed, a capable warrior, and a devout follower of Pelor.  He is kind, adheres to a strong set of moral values, rules nearby Loren's Ford ably, and loyal to the Viscount.  He is devoted to his family, and treats Brianna and Zayne as if they were his own children.
