Gore

Appearance: Gore is hideous to behold, the deformity of his body clearly caused by mutation and not some sad accident after birth. His skin, if you want to call it that, is lumpy in places and thin in others without any real pattern or reason found. Some patches of flesh are pale white, while others are an angry red or deep purple. Of course, some of these might be fresh marks from the Pit. His calling is clear in the many scars that mark his form, ranging in shape and size from small and minor to large and severe when new no doubt. His hair his but a few strands of brown jutting from his scalp which shed, but then grow back. He has no eyebrows, though his eyes themselves are human in both function and appearance and have an amber coloration. Half of his lips never fully developed, making it easy to see a collection of cracked, missed, and stained teeth at all times.

Along with a loincloth and sandles, Gore chooses to wear his Pit armor at all times as he's become comfortable after wearing it so long. He also thinks it goes with his image and feels he might get more respect as a known fighter than just some mutant.

Other than this and sandles, the fighter wears a loincloth all the time and adds a cloak in harsher weather as required.

Personality: It might be believed that someone who grew up in a Nomadic culture would have been taught that violence was a suitable solution to a problem, and in Gores case this would be correct. However, such an alternative wasn't impressed upon him and for use when it was the only way, but that it was the easiest way as well. If a farmer wanted ten bullets for his sack of grain, give him two out of your gun barrel and then you get the grain and anything else he has on him for a greatly reduced price.

As they tried to kill him, Gore holds no loyalty to his former clan. Given his ability to survive in the Pit, he fully believes he was sent to die in a failed raid because it was thought by others, he would one day be the biggest and baddest, taking control of the group for himself.

Gore was raised to put himself first, to get what he wanted out of life and not worry about others to achieve his goals. He hasn't changed from this; it simply works out that being a pit fighter serves his goals for now.

History: Gore was raised in a nomadic clan, about the only reason he wasn't left to die in the wilds as an infant. That he was a mutant and a freak was plain to anyone with eyes, but then he wasn't the only such one in the group he called home.

When he was old enough, he was sent with several others to raid a bartertown, a Rite of Passage for them. When the fighting started however, they found none of their weapons worked; they'd been set up and intended to die. Some tried to fight anyway and were killed in seconds, some tried to run with the same result, the rest surrendered.

As punishment for their attack, the survivors were to fight each other in a free for all in the pit. The combat was long and bloody, but somehow one mutant kept taking blows and managed to be the last one standing. The next day he was pitted against a wild beast, but still won. People started muttering, and he was allowed to recover fully before they again sent him into the Pit.

Fight after fight, challenger after challenger, he lived to see the next day. His blood mix with that of many others in the dirt, and he fought on. More and more people came to watch his matches, betting on him grew heavier and heavier, and he even found people rooting for him if only so they'd win wagers.

During one festival day the highlight event was Trial by Combat, at the end of which he was granted his freedom; but instead of leaving, the man returned to the Pit of his own choice and continued to wage battle.

Now going by the name of Gore, the former Nomad found a life that suited him; he had believed for a long time that mutants weren't accepted, but he found a way he could be and live in a large settlement to boot. His successes in the Pit have made him known locally, he actually has fans, and since people come to watch him fight which brings in more goods and trade, plus because he agreed to help the Sentinels if required, he's got a decent shack with his meals provided for.
