Alister was born in Salisbury in 495 AD, as the third son of Sir Edward of Burcombe. His father and elder brothers died during the summer invasion of 516 AD, leaving Alister as the only surviving son. He was knighted by Earl Robert after the siege of Sarum, and has taken over as the Knight of Burcombe Manor and vassal knight of Earl Robert at the age of twenty one.

Standing at just over average height, not overly broad, and with a distinctive mop of black hair that never quite wants to sit straight, Sir Alister makes for a relatively unassuming figure. Dark haired and dark featured with a quick eye, his look is classically cymric, and those who knew his father at the same age have remarked on the resemblance. He’s notably deft with his fingers, and possesses a marvellously steady and precise hand that lends well to a talent in first aid.

While you could never accuse him of being a quiet man, there’s something hollow behind the eyes when he smiles. Expressions of mirth die just that little bit too quickly. The recent deaths of his family weigh on him heavily. He does his best not to let it show, covering it with light airs and an easy nature, but the pain still lingers.

As it stands, Sir Alister has a hefty legacy to live up to. His father, Sir Edward, is said to have died a hero, having charged repeatedly into the Irish lines during the invasion of 516, allowing the Salisbury footmen precious time to escape. His grandfather was a renowned healer, and his great grandfather before him was granted Burcombe in perpetuity for valour after riding through the night with inhuman haste to warn his Lord of an attempted invasion.

Sir Alister, for his part, has no delusions of grandeur. He was never supposed to run his own lands. Never supposed to be a great knight. For now, he does what he can. For Burcombe. For his Lord. For his fellow Knights. His brothers and father may no longer grace this Earth, but he owes it to them to honour their legacy.
