Personality: Jason is a sad sort of person. He makes an effort to be friendly and cheerful but has trouble maintaining it for extended periods of time. Since his mutation emerged he's become somewhat moody and introverted. The nature of his powers make getting close to people dangerous so eventually when he starts feeling close to someone he pushes them away. That doesn't mean he doesn't have friends, mind you. It just means he doesn't let people get too close to him.

Physical Description:  He's an average height individual with a slender but athletic build, though it's hard to tell he's slender given the layers of clothing he always wears. His skin is a deep and dark blue in color as is his hair which is slicked back and rigid looking. It has a few ice blue veins running along it. His eyes are a similar ice blue in color, solid orbs with no iris or pupil visible, with a faint glow to them. Jason is always dressed in several layers of thermal clothing, favoring darker colors.


Mutant Abilities

Thermal Energy Absorption
Jason inherently absorbs the thermal energy from the area around him at a drastic rate. It's severe enough that there is a noticeable drop in the ambient temperature the closer you get to him. From thirty feet away it might feel a couple of degrees cooler than the air beyond that but by the time you are standing next to him the temperature is almost at freezing. The absorption rate is near instantaneous in direct physical contact with his skin, making skin contact for more than a couple of seconds potentially lethal. So far, he has exhibited no ability to control this energy absorption.

• Offensive Uses: While he has never been able to consciously control or command these abilities, as a reflex his body has channeled the absorbed thermal energy to his benefit in a variety of ways. In heightened situations where he has felt in danger or threatened he's used the absorbed energy to fire blasts of heat from his hands or eyes. In the most dire of circumstance, where Jason felt his life was in extreme danger, his body has channeled the energy to enhance his physical strength and speed to just a little beyond human limits though it left him completely physically drained afterward. So far, he has only managed limited control over the heat blasts and only when he perceives real danger to himself or someone he cares about. He's exhibited no control whatsoever over the ability to channel the absorbed energy into enhancing his physical abilities. It's only happened twice so far and both times he might have died if they hadn't been enhanced and was left completely drained after the moment of danger passed.
  
• Defensive Uses: Because of the severe rate at which he absorbs thermal energy he is extremely resistant to all effects related to heat, including some forms of radiation. He is also abnormally resistant to the effects of cold thanks to the prolonged exposure to it his mutant ability forces on him. He can withstand a cold environment much longer than the average person. Lastly, the massive amount of thermal energy he is constantly absorbing channels itself to mildly enhance his bodies ability to heal, although to the casual observer he might just seem like a really fast healer as opposed to someone whose healing is augmented by their mutant ability.
  
• Weaknesses: While he can last much longer than normal before suffering the effects of extreme cold he is actually more vulnerable to them in the long run. When the effects of such temperatures finally do start to hit him they do so much faster and more violently than they do other people. Essentially, once his body consumes the wealth of excess thermal energy it is constantly absorbing it begins to rapidly consume his own body heat. Water is dangerous as he could easily freeze himself in it against his will if he doesn't take great precautions before getting in.

Background: Jason's childhood wasn't a cheerful affair but it wasn't as tragic as it might have appeared on the surface, either. Whomever his parents were, they gave him up for adoption when he was born. Being a slightly sickly child, prospective parents weren't lining up to adopt him so he began his life living in an orphanage. All their basic needs were met. The caretakers didn't show them much love but they never abused them in any way either.

Eventually, Jason came to the realization that no one was ever going to adopt him even though his health concerns were long behind him. He grew tired of sharing a room with five other kids of differing ages so he made the bold decision to run away. At the age of fourteen he took to living on the streets. He picked up odd jobs when and where he could but about half the time he ended up having to steal to keep himself fed and clothed. It wasn't a great life but he loved the sense of freedom and he picked up a lot of different skills along the way.

By the time he was seventeen, he had the streets locked down as far as how to survive and thrive. He knew what stores he could steal from and how much without them raising too much of a fuss. Where the best places to sleep were depending on the weather and the seasons. He got so good at thriving on the streets he actually started helping out other kids he found living on the streets. He built up quite the circle of little grifters. It was actually becoming a pretty good life in his estimations until his mutant ability suddenly and violently manifested one day while he was helping one of the younger kids evade a cop trying to play truant officer.

Jason was twenty at the time and out of the blue while he was trying to distract the cop he doubled over in sudden pain. The color vanished from his skin and the air around him began to rapidly chill. The cop came over to try and help him but yelled out in pain and recoiled when his hand seemed to freeze instantly when it touched Jason's shoulder at the wide and loose neck of his shirt. It took a couple of months of similar incidents for him to finally learn that he not only absorbed the air around him, he absorbed it rapidly from anything his skin touched. The rate was so severe that his touch could be lethal. Without meaning to he hurt a lot of people before he understood enough of what was happening to him. It was a relief to him when the X-Corp school found him and offered him a place.
