Maqui Jordan Lissel

Name: Maqui Jordan Lissel
Code Name: Rebus
Age: Twenty-Five (25)

Power: Mercury Control
Mac's ability allows him to control a significantly large amount of Mercury in the human body, specifically his own. Exposed to the X-factor and surrounded by contaminate substances at an early age, Mac is able to use his power as something of a multi-tool. Mac's limitation is specifically his imagination on what his power can do, though the limits are still there. He typically can't extend his power outside a range of about fifteen feet and he absolutely despises cold weather, since Mercury has an significantly low freezing point. When needed, Mac can also liquefy himself entirely, rendering him completely immune to electrical attacks and providing himself with two alternative, albeit harmful or destructive, attack options. While his power may not stand out in terms of being flashy or powerful, it more than makes up for this by making him into a living Swiss Army Knife.

Some examples of his power are listed below, but he's not limited to just these effects;
-Slingshot Movement (Like Spiderman, but instead of swinging, it's more of a rapid pull-and-launch)
-Whip attacks (Creating a length of mercury with a somewhat solidified tip for cutting someone)
-Swords (Like the Whip, but more physical and much closer)

-Liquid State (Not able to be maintained for long, but allows Mac to completely liquefy himself into living Mercury. Very dangerous to be around, even if it's just limited exposure, physical contact is by far the worst form of exposure)

Lastly, Mac has an extremely limited control over the last aspect of his power. His last power is less of an active ability than it is a passive effect. Though Mac is safe, his ability has altered his body's functionality, turning his bodily fluids and overall presence into a health hazard for anyone near him. Because of the obscenely high mercury content in his body, anybody even initiating physical contact with him for too long is subject to potential Mercury Poisoning. Interacting with barriers, such as gloves or clothing, can mitigate the risk. Otherwise, various effects of Mercury Poisoning can be transmitted from different instances involving Mac. Cuts, prolonged exposure, exposure to bodily fluids, etc. will all build up.

Nausea, disorientation, blindness (temporary) and other effects are common. Mac has no control over this effect and it will always activate at any opportunity. It can be useful when dealing with aggressive individuals, but can also be detrimental to anyone who isn't hostile. Anyone or anything inanimate or non-tangible doesn't have to worry. This effect can never be lost or deactivated, but with time, it may be possible to mitigate most of the effect and allow Mac to have some sort of extended interactions with people.

The effect is worsened when in his liquid state. Even being within a few feet is enough to cause an extremely quick onset of symptoms and can generally be fatal in half the cases. Whenever he liquefies himself, it's best to keep clear until he powers down.

Personality:
To put it in bluntly, Mac is a bit hostile. Having grown up around people who only took advantage of his power and showed no remorse, Mac became emotionally distant to people in order to protect himself. Seeing compliments and charisma as a negative trait, Mac sees talkative people as suspicious, often doubting their intentions and believing them to have ulterior motives. While he can eventually warm up to people, some quicker than others, a lot of people need to realize that Mac is extremely difficult to soften in this regard. It's clear that he has decent morals and ethics and has learned to interact with people, but shows a clear tendency to be wary of those he's only just met. He's definitely the type to value actions over words and tends to analyze people based on composure instead of titles or former accomplishments.

For the handful of people that Mac learns to trust or accept, he shows that he has a bit of bravado when push comes to shove. While he doesn't embody the typical aspect of heroism, Mac is not beyond smashing through walls and causing significant property damage to do some good for those around him. Atypical in that regard, Mac's form of heroic action doesn't precisely have a set of rules to abide by... Dirty tricks are perfectly justifiable when it comes to doing what's right; Sand in the eyes, rocks to the face, even the occasional bit of humiliation to demoralize someone is fine. Collateral damage just isn't a concern for him when it comes to standing up for what's right.

Physical Description:
Mac grew up living off of cheap tips and low wages, but he managed to shrug off the worst of the issues of living as an ostracized mutant. Although it took a bit, Mac is able to pass for human. He possesses a natural gleam to his skin, almost silver. It's prominent, but only at closer distances and with adequate lighting, otherwise he can generally pass it off as just some awkward positioning or such. His eyes have a particularly noticeable silverish tint to the sclera, causing his eyes to stand out enough that this would be an immediate giveaway to his mutant factor. As such, he tends to avoid prolonged eye contact without a reason. His irises are mismatched, in all likelihood due to his mutation; His left eye has a purple discoloration and his right eye has a yellowish discoloration, yet another distinctive mark of his mutation.

His hair is particularly black and shiny, somewhat messy but surprisingly clean, in spite of his otherwise lackluster appearance. His frame isn't particularly large and imposing; At six feet and three inches in height, his weight remains approximately one hundred and fifty pounds due to a hyperactive metabolism... Walking to the fridge to get some pop, to the cupboard to get some chips and back to the television is generally enough exercise to have worked off the calories he's about to consume. Some might believe him to be anorexic, regardless of the proof that he can eat as much as a horse and, likely, the horse as well.

Most of his attire is simplistic; He favors nondescript shirts and pants with somewhat darker colors, mostly since they don't show the dirt and marks of having been well worn. Plus, mud and whatever else will be easier to hide on a dark shirt than it would be with a white shirt. The clothing tends to be a little loose, but not so loose as to fall off of him.
