Welcome to X-men: Omega Remnants

14:25, 27th April 2024 (GMT+0)

River Moore

Name: River Moore
Code Names: Winter, Agent Winter, Agent Moore
Age: 33
Affiliation: SHIELD, X-Men (as SHIELD liaison)
Former affiliations: X-Men, Hellions, Massachusetts Academy

Personality: River has matured significantly in the time since the Hellions disbanded. She has further grown into and accepting of her abilities and the changes that accompanied them, though she's still a little jealous of the depowered. That's something that won't change, though she's also sure she would die if her powers were removed, due to those same changes. She is kind, clever, fairly dependable, and a little self-depreciating, a habit that's stuck with her over the years. She prefers not to lead if she can help it, but will take charge if necessary, and is a decent strategist.

Her suicidal streak has finally subsided, absorbed into her desire to help others, replaced by confidence. She is good at what she does, she now knows. The doubts caused by being thrust too soon into a leadership position have finally subsided, leaving her with a figurative "new lease on life". She is more than she once was.

Physical Description: 5'7", still willowy slender. Her base body temperature hovers around 50 degrees fahrenheit as a result of how her powers manifested, though normally fluctuates depending on ambient temperatures and power usage. She is particularly drawn to heat. Her skin is snowy white, though the majority is covered with what looks like snow, in reality tiny white and ice-blue snowflake tattoos she received in her teenage years to help her cope with everything. She does not regret them, even now. Her eyes are naturally a bright pinkish-red, though she developed photosensitivity as a result of her condition and wears special contacts to counteract it, in either ice blue or sea green depending on her mood that morning.

Her hair, snowy white and well-kept, has grown back out since her days of leadership, though she carefully keeps it between the waist-length of her teenage years and the shoulder-length of her Hellion days. Still affects a ponytail or single braid much of the time.

Prefers comfortable clothing in white, blue (various shades), and black. Prefers to be barefoot. Wears a lot of sunscreen, carries a parasol if she goes out when not on a mission.

Background: Mutant child born to a mutant-hating human supremacist. You can imagine how well that ended. Legally emancipated from her parents at fifteen with the help of her aunt, moved in with a group of similar girls for a few years. She met her first girlfriend there, but it didn't end well. Left after graduating high school, bound for a school in New York that she'd heard of, one that was said to help mutants in learning what they could do.

That's where everything started.

Not long after, she separated from the X-Men in the company of Julian Frost, and ended up at the Massachusetts Academy in Boston with his sister Emma. She was thrust into a position of leadership she was nowhere near ready for, heading the Hellions, a competing superteam. She was infatuated with Julian at the time, and did much that she regrets to this day. Though her habit of chronicling the history of her kind has led her to write much on the subject, it's not something she'll readily talk about.

Some time later, backed by Emma who enabled her to fund the endeavor, she took the Hellions from the Academy, bringing them under her sole leadership. This lasted until the depowering event. Sensing that things may change for the worst, she was about to dissolve the Hellions to protect them...

Then came the invasion. Her team, hit heavily by the depowering, joined with others to defend the Earth. Surprisingly, the change she suspected would happen never did, though she chose to dissolve the Hellions anyway, much like the X-Men. There wasn't any need for superteams at the time.

Without the burden of responsibility, River was lost for a time. She wandered the country aimlessly, looking for a purpose...which she eventually found, in the most unlikely of places.

She was tracked down and, after various misunderstandings stemming from her past enmity with the organization, eventually brought to Maria Hill, who extended to her an offer to join SHIELD.

She suspects that one was Charles Xavier's doing.

SHIELD was vastly different than how she'd known it in the past. Tony Stark, who had abused his power to the point of threatening her Hellions, was no longer in power. Carol Danvers, who River had hated for being Stark's puppet, was nowhere in sight.

She was busy again, and she enjoyed it.

Hobbies: Meditation, working out, studying, reading. Writing. She used to write poems, but gave it up long ago, and now prefers to chronicle the history of mutantkind for future reference. Rumored to dance, though not often.
Likes: Ice cream. Warm water. Being barefoot. Quiet time. Vegging in front of the TV. Traveling.
Dislikes: Shoes. Jerks. Beauty magazines. Celery. Close contact, unless it's someone she trusts implicitly. Firearms (prefers not to use one if she can help it).
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual. It's the person, not the parts.
Love Life: One ex-girlfriend from her teenage years, another ex-girlfriend that she's not sure is even still alive in any fashion after the depowerment, and an ex-boyfriend who disappeared from her life without much warning. Not particularly interested in dating, but could possibly be made to change her mind on that...

Relationship With Family:

Parents: Non-existent. River honestly has no idea if her parents are even alive or dead, and she doesn't care to know, either.

Aunt: River's maternal aunt Felicia is still alive, though depowered (former tactile telepath, suspected though unconfirmed precognitive telepath). Currently in a group home for the blind, still learning to cope without her powers. River keeps in fairly regular contact.

Sister: The illustrious Clarissa Moore, still-powered pyrokinetic/thermokinetic/pherokinetic. Last she'd seen her sister physically, she was leaving Earth in the company of the group known as X-Factor on the sentient spaceship Ship. She doesn't actually know where she is now, but somehow manages to receive letters every so often, and still loves her dearly.

With Friends: She's fiercely loyal and protective, if you don't mind the literal cold shoulder.

Power Information
-------------------

Cryokinesis: River possesses the ability to create and control ice and snow. This was her first ability to manifest and affected her physical state, triggering the onset of her albinism and her temperature sensitivity/lowered body temperature. Most adept with this ability, to the point where its usage is limited by the scope of her conditioning and imagination. One of her most common uses is coating her entire body in a sheet of ice, increasing her durability in a fight. Another is to manifest non-firearm weaponry.

Hydrokinesis: River possesses the ability to create and control water. Manifested shortly after her cryokinesis, as if to complement it. Almost as adept with this as she is with her cryokinesis, though she uses it less. Again, limited by conditioning and imagination.

Thermokinesis: River can influence the temperature of the air around her, though only to make it colder. Third and last ability to manifest. Though she can exert some conscious control in recent times, it's still not as good as she'd like, and is still tied in to her emotional state.

Mundane abilities
------------------

Though River had dabbled in the martial arts prior, it was part of her SHIELD training that led her to further train in combat of various forms, recognizing that even her powers had their limitations. Her preferred weapon is a bo staff, though she is cognizant and proficient in bladed weaponry and barehanded fighting as well.

Fluent in English, semi-fluent in German (picked up while on a mission), and possessing a smattering of other languages.
