Lee Hirsch

Name: Lee Hirsch
Code Name: Fracture
Age: 19
Power: Vibratory Blasts/Control

Lee's most obvious power is the ability to release blasts of vibrational energy that he can attune specifically to any form of matter, shattering it. (It can take time to attune a blast to materials that are new to him, during which the substance may take damage, but won't yet explode.) He can create a vibrational wall to protect himself (or others) from physical harm.

He is also capable of propelling himself at speeds approaching that of sound, but only in short bursts and straight lines. He cannot breathe at high speeds, so his limit is as far as he can travel on a single breath.

In a theoretical use of his ability, he is potentially capable of vibrating his own molecules to pass through other objects without doing harm to them. So far, he has failed to make practical use of the ability.

The most subtle application of his power, though, is one that's virtually impossible for him to turn off. He is always vibrating at some relatively low frequency. This is a mildly destructive side-effect, which wears out his clothes quickly, and prevents him from ever successfully brushing his hair. Worse, it occasionally causes equipment to fail around him as delicate connections come loose at his touch. Animals tend not to like him, as he releases extremely high-pitched noises at times. Cats, by some exception, seem to love him.

Personality: Lee is a bit of a goofball, but has a good heart. He will always help a friend, and even an enemy, when the situation arises. He doesn't want to be a super-hero, but he understands the necessity of occasional heroics in defense of the mutant race.

Physical Description:  A bit on the short side, Lee tops out at about 5'6". His build is only average. He forever looks unkept as a side-effect of his abilities, with worn-out clothes and messy hair.

Background: Lee grew up in a small town on Long Island, New York. He led a mundane, middle-class existence as the oldest of three children. His father was a low-level government bureaucrat with whom Lee had nothing much in common, and his mother was a part-time secretary with a mild drinking problem. It was what it was, and what it was was mostly boring.

Then came the day Lee's powers emerged. On reflection, they'd been around for a while, as he now recognizes the excess wear and tear of his clothes as a symptom... but he'd never released a blast until his junior year of high school. He was crossing the school parking lot when he sneezed, and that was enough to release a pent-up burst of energy, shattering windshields all across the lot. It was a miracle nobody was hurt. It was more of a miracle that nobody tied the explosion to Lee, standing at the center of it as he'd been.

When X-Corp was ceded the rights to the island they now call home, Lee contacted them, asking for a place on the island. He feels safer around other mutants, and also feels that other mutants are safer around him than plain humans are.
