Arkadi Ivanov

Name: Dr. Arkadi (Eric) Ivanov
Code Name: Rakshasa
Age: 27
Power: Inanimate Object manipulation - Arkadi can cause inanimate objects to flow into different shapes including merging them together or cleaving them apart.  He can only adjust objects he is touching, and his power only extends to objects that are, based on their natural properties at the time, solid - he can reshape an ice sculpture, but he can't adjust liquid water into the same shape.  While adjusting an object, he can't manipulate molecular composition, chemical properties, or temperature - coal stays coal and remains flammable, and he can't inherently make it burn.

Personality: (One paragraph minimum)
Frankly, Arkadi is a bit of a pushover.  His whole life has been a serious of other people telling him what to do, and him doing it.  Part of it comes from his upbringing, and no small part comes from a shy personality.  The 'good boy' mentality stays with him; he's always up and out of bed by the third chime of his alarm, has his bed made, stubble shaved, teeth brushed, and shoes polished within twenty minutes of waking, and so on.  He keeps his desk tidy and laundry folded and ironed, and tends to squirm at confrontation.  Soft-spoken.  Polite.
 Disciplined.  Pushover.

While he is confident in his mundane abilities, and increasingly much so about his mutant powers, Arkadi's not really one to show off.  While there are plenty of mutants who like to use their powers in the day to day, Eric's not really one of them; he does make a point to practice his control religiously and daily, but he still refrains from their use in day-to-day activities.  He even tends to get a little skittish when talking about powers, his in particular.

Physical Description:  (One paragraph minimum)
Arkadi isn't the sort people tend to look at twice.  He's handsome enough, though, with a youthful face and high cheekbones, his straw blond hair in a well-combed military cut and his bright green eyes friendly and warm.  He's only about five-five with an athletic built, though his mannerisms tend to make him seem even smaller.  His lack of a beard takes another few years off his apparent age.  Not one to try new things, Arkadi favors white or pale green button-down shirts, beige or navy pants, and a crisp full Windsor.  Often as not, he sports a lab coat and a lanyard.

Background: (two paragraph minimum)
Arkadi hadn't been born when his parents and grandparents left the crumbling Soviet Union for the states, but that just meant he grew up with certain expectations and pressures that none of his childhood friends experienced.  Pressures that came from a mentality that Eric never fully understood himself.  While not the smartest kid, a strict home regiment got him propelled through school and college but socially isolated.

Arkadi had been in medical school when the invasion came, which both saved him from a combat draft.  His studies got truncated, and his license handed to him early due to the state of emergency.  From there, it was straight on to military hospitals for a few years while his student debt gradually evaporated.  It would have even been a decent place to continue, if Arkadi hadn't started to manifest powers of his own.  Discretely, he requested a transfer to serve at 'the mutant island' where medical professionals were in comparatively short supply and high demand.

Hobbies:
Arkadi plays the piano.  He's also a decent painter, both of portraits and landscapes, which he pursues to keep his hand-eye coordination sharp.
Likes:
Classical music, dramas, documentaries, sweets
Dislikes:
Late nights, embarrassment humor, things messing with his routine
Sexual Orientation:
Gay
Relationship With Family:
Arkadi's remaining family members consist of his mother and uncle, a grandmother, and a sister.  The rest either died in the invasion or, in the case of an aunt and a grandfather, killed themselves when they lost the powers they had been keeping secret from the government.

As the youngest grandchild and a doctor to boot, Arkadi enjoys a privileged position in the eyes of his grandmother.  So long as she never finds out that he's gay, a mutant, or both.

Arkadi has gotten closer with his uncle Gregory, a gravity-controlling mutant who fought the invasion, since his own powers started to manifest.  Not close, per se, but closer.

His relationship with his mother Anna is strained, stemming back to when he came out to her at fifteen and exacerbated by the slow manifestation of Arkadi's mutant powers.

His sister, Katya, gets along with him just fine, but they're not especially close.
With Friends:
There's a few folks from med school and Arkadi's first military posting that he's kinda friendly with, but more in the sense of reacting to each other on social media than actually talking on a regular basis.

He speaks English and Russian
