Personality: Shy and quiet, Jade tends to be on the quieter side of things. That's not to say she won't be involved in a conversation or aloof, but she rather enjoys just being around and listening to others talk. While she is slow to warm up to new people, once she gets comfortable around a person or group of people she will relax and allow herself to be more open. She is happy to talk about nearly every topic around except for her past, which she only says that it's the past for a reason and to leave it there.

Physical Description: Jade, when she's not in her smaller form, is five foot eleven inches tall with a very petite and lithe body. She keeps her hair on the shorter side, not quite short enough for a pixie cut, though it does amuse her and she may well get one at some point. She likes to change it as often as she can without frying it, right now it's a nice vibrant red. One thing she can't change, despite the size she is, is her eye color which is a soft golden with a lighter golden for the pupil and iris. Her ears are also a visible change, being elongated and what most would call elf ears. Which is a fair comparison as they come to long, elegant tips that stick out from her head instead of the more usual rounded ones. Though, her most obvious feature is the large pair of butterfly wings on her back. They are, if she does say so herself, absolutely beautiful. A light orange at the top that fades into a soft pink at the base of her wings with swirling black lines throughout.

When she's in her pixie form, she looks the same only much smaller.

Background: Jade had a rather uneventful childhood, growing up in Portland, Oregon with her parents. She's an only child, with no cousins or extended family, both parents were only children as well. She was never all that popular, though wasn't an outcast either. She had her core group of friends and a smattering of acquaintances, doing alright in school. Most days she could be found surfing or swimming in the ocean, preferring to spend as much time in the water as possible. It was during these frequent trips that she figured out what she wanted to do. She was going to be a marine biologist. After high school she applied for and got accepted into the University of Oregon, Oregon Institute of Marine Biology where she earned her both her Bachelor and Master degrees.

After getting her degrees she joined a company that was studying coral reefs in Hawaii where she has spent the last two years. Her mutant powers manifested one day when she was out surfing one early summer morning. It had been mostly calm, riding some really good waves with only the occasional wipeout. She had been preparing to drop into a wave, riding the crest and tipping the nose of her surfboard down to start her run when a tiger shark mistook her board for a meal and slammed into her from the bottom. Thrown into the air from the sheer force of the strike, she had thought for sure that she was at the least about to be bitten and at worst, well... But that hadn't happened, she hadn't fallen into a maw filled with razor sharp teeth, hadn't landed on the shark or her board or even the water. Instead, she found herself hovering above the ocean as the wave took her board and the shark further away from her. To say she was shocked would be an understatement. Sporting a large pair of wings that beat rapidly to keep her aloft.

Once she had gotten back to shore, she had abandoned her board and fled as fast as her new wings could carry her. It had taken her some time to figure out that she could switch back to her normal size, but the wings, ears and new eye color were permanent additions. After a long time, she decided that it would be best for her to head to the new island nation she'd heard of called Haven. She was already a target because of who she was, add in the mutation, and obvious ones at that, and she figured it would be safer and better for her there.
