A Magnimar native, Kikthar grew up in the Ordellia district. His grandfather, Dold Orythgun, moved there from Janderhoff more than a century ago and begin an import/export business, which primarily services the merchants of Ordellia. Forty years ago, Kikthar's older brother established an extension of the business in Sandpoint. A large chunk of Kikthar's youth was spent living and studying in Janderhoff. Five years ago, however, he was abruptly swept to Sandpoint after the tragic death of his brother, Pynar, in a sailing accident. Though Kikthar is a well established member of the community, he does not really remember the town before the Late Unpleasantness.

For first four of the five years since then, Kikthar has been living with his sister in law, helping run the business and tutor Pynar's daughter as she came of legal age to take over. That actually happened over a full year ago, but he  has remained in Sandpoint. In fact, he took up an apprenticeship under Maver Kesk, the local jeweler. He spend much of his free time at the Hagfish, usually in the company of town academics, having ale-fueled discussion about a wide range of topics.
