Biography:
Siggi’s father, Finn, was a boat builder and his wife, Ingibjorg, was a sailmaker. Siggi was their only child and she grew up happy and carefree. Siggi believed that the most important thing a person could have was love in their life. Her father taught her how to handle a hand axe, to help with boat building and fighting if needed, while her mother taught her sail making and homemaking. When Siggi was 16 and a half years old, a band of warriors from Eskil’s village made a raid on her village. In the raid her father and mother were killed. Siggi fought bravely to defend her home but was no match for the attackers. She was taken as a slave by Lars Olafsson and brought back to Eskil’s village. After about 6 months, a young man named Eskil purchased her freedom from Lars. Siggi was now 17 and was in deeply in love with Eskil. The had a torrid love affair for 6 months but, unfortunately, every time Siggi saw Lars it was a painful reminder of what she lost. She told Eskil she need to leave the village to be truly free and happy, so, Eskil tearfully said he wouldn’t stop her and let her leave.

At the age of 18, Siggi arrived in the village of Earl Grimnir and was allowed to settle there. She found work in the village with Leif Ragnarsson, the boat builder. She had some skill in sail making and Leif was happy for the help Siggi provided his wife, Gudrun. Siggi caught the attention of Hrolf Arvesson and it took him 2 years but he finally wed the 22 year old, Siggi. She and Hrolf were happy together. Siggi thoroughly enjoyed Hrolf’s family, especially Lifa because she was the sister Siggi never had. After a little over a year and no child, Siggi was worried if she would ever have children. She did get pregnant and at 22 years old had their daughter, Hilde. When Siggi was 25 she had another daughter, Abi. Misfortune befell Siggi and her daughters when she was 27. Hrolf was killed when raiding. Siggi couldn’t believe her good fortune when Eskil arrived at the village. Unfortunately, for now, Arve was keep them apart.
