Tristan Atwater

Group: English

Name: Tristan Atwater

Occupation: Farmer (conscripted soldier)

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Age: 33

Physical Description: Tristan is rather tall for an Englishman, standing over 6’2” in height, and his broad, sturdy frame looks as though it’s been wrought from iron. His skin is bronzed from a life in the sun, and his long, unkempt brown hair and bushy beard lend to a wild appearance, though it isn’t matched by the somber look in his blue eyes.

Personality: Patient, introspective and polite, Tristan has an aura of unflappable calm. Once an outgoing, sunny young man, after three years of war Tristan has become more reclusive and reserved since returning, thanks to his physical and emotional scars. He generally tries to mind his own business and actively avoids trouble, but deep beneath the surface, his passions run hot when they are stirred. He will stubbornly stick by his morals even in the face of insurmountable opposition, and while he is slow to anger, his wrath is terrible if his life or loved ones are threatened.

Biography: Tristan grew up as the eldest child of a farmer and his wife, who had lived in the settlement their whole lives. Similarly, for nineteen years, the small village nestled between the mountains was all Tristan had ever known. He thought all he’d ever do was tend the family farm with his younger brother and sister or stir up trouble in the village with his friends. Then one day, the King came calling, and he, his father and his brother were off to war.

After receiving rudimentary training, the villagers were conscripted into the King’s army and thrust into battle. It was a trial by fire, sometimes literally, but with his considerable size, strength and resolve, Tristan not only survived but stood out. He would eventually come to command a squad of fellow commoners, and while Tristan was by no means a military genius, his men knew they could rely on him to stay calm and keep them safe.

Sadly, Tristan was the only one of the three to see the end of the campaign. Near the end of the first year, his father, Irwin, died of an infection from a stray arrow. Seven months later, his brother, Adair, was trampled in a cavalry charge. Their deaths and three years of battle changed the young man who villagers had once said had “the strength of an ox and the smile of a summer’s day.” Though the farmboy who returned home was physically and emotionally stronger than he’d ever been, his smile seemed to have been lost to time.

Now he spends his days working hard to run his family farm, with the help of his sister. Though respected for his accomplishments and sacrifices among the villagers, he rarely makes the time to socialize, preferring to keep his mind focused on whatever task is at hand.

Family: While his father, Irwin, and his younger brother, Adair, died in the war, he still has two living family members. His mother, Eliza, and his younger sister, Lily, did their best to run the family farm while he was away at war, and now the three of them live there together.
