Alwin (the Young) of the Lowins

Group: Saxon

Name: Alwin (the Young) of the Lowins

Age: 28

Occupation: Local lord

Sexuality: Hetero

Physical Description: With a slight and wiry build of an horseman, a face whose expression that can be read in many different ways and favourting an extraordinarily discreet style of clothing, Alwin proves disconcerting to onlookers that very rarely think of him as the typical red faced, burly and loudspeaking Saxon lords.

Personality: In the words of his opponents 'a sneaky dangerous bastard', in the words of his friends 'you can trust him as you can your won family'.

Biography: Hailing from one of the original Saxon migrants, present at the Battle of Badon and one of the last to keep the 'old ways', the Lowins are by now a pale shadow of their former proud selfs, their slow decay having started at Badon and continued on to nowadays.

Farmers in the highly productive East Anglia lands the slow but steady end of the wandering settlements practice led to the Lowins patriarchs becoming increasing beligerent towards thier saxon neighbours, eventually leading to an orchestrated display of violence towards them that effectively made them quasi-outcast in the Saxon world. Still, they were Saxons and they were still supported against the Anglo-Romans.

Alwin (the Old) was the first to realzie the advantages and independence this granted to his family. They started to aquire practices from the locals, namely abandoning their timber family home for a most defensible masonry and stone one and start to create an almost feudal system in their lands that added to the mistrust of fellow Saxons and to the dislike of Anglo-Romans, but that gave them a lot of power within the Saxon world. His descendants were not as capable and the system he set was being held by very thin strings when Alwin (the Young) rose to power following a never fully explained family dispute.

A very young Alwin spent his formative years reinstating the power structure in their lands, and today many say that he has set his views on making the same within the Saxon world.

Family:

With both his older brothers dead from unfortunate hunting accidents, only his younger sister Hilda survives. Rumours abound about their relationship, with Hilda seen by many as either the real power behind Alwin or a pawn to be used by Alwin to further his desires for power.
