Biography: Freya was born in a humble village, the daughter of Erik and Inga, a farming family. Freya had three younger sisters. The eldest one, Ingrid, died before her fifth birthday. The middle sister, Ulrica, was maimed by a wolf ten winters ago when she was eight. The youngest, Hulda, is barely walking. Inga is an affectionate mother who doted on Freya. Her mother taught her to cook. In the quiet time of the evening, after her father had gone to bed, Inga instructed her in singing. However, Erik is a hard and humorless man, and the birth of each daughter and death of his only son has only made him harder. He taught her to farm and hunt. Freya enjoyed hunting and fishing and journeying through the forests and the mountains alone, but less so the exhausting and filthy work of farming. But it made her fit and strong, and at home in the wild. It also gave her time to practice singing. Freya dreams of being a skald, a poet/singer/storyteller. Three seasons past Freya ran away from home. She can still recall the night she overheard her father informing her mother that he had sold Freya for the price of two goats. The man many in the village suspected either he murdered his previous wife in a fit of drunken rage or that she killed herself to get away; was to be Freya's husband. Using her hunting skills Freya sold enough pelts to secure her way across the water. She's been hiding in the woods, close to the encampment, for two seasons. She heard the Norsemen land and has been carefully observing them, making sure her family isn't among them.
