Disposition: Has a reputation for going against authority. But yet is good-spirited and courageous, putting his own life on the line for the sake of others.
Background: Jack Archer was born in the United States but when the Global Civil War began in 1992 his family (both of his parents were dual citizens of the US and Israel) moved to Israel. In 1994, Jacks father was killed in combat, and his mother was killed in 1995 during a intermediate ballistic missile strike (from Iran) on Tel Aviv. At the age of 14 he enlisted in the Israeli Defense Force and was found to have the aptitude to be a combat pilot and was trained to fly the F-16. At the age of 15 Jack first saw combat. While a member of the IAF, Jack attained 11 air to air kills before being shot down over Iranian air space in 1998.
With the arrival of the 'visitor' and the ending of the Global Civil War Jack remained a a POW until 2000 after an armistice agreement was finally decided upon. He then left the Israeli Air Force and moved back to the United States in 2001. He then attended collage with the intent of joining the USAF upon completion and getting a slot to fly the new 'Robotech Fighter' in development. It took some time to receive a commission due to having once been a member of the IDF. Jack did of course have to denounce his Israeli citizenship, which was fine by him if he was going to get to fly what was supposed to be the most advanced fighter aircraft on the planet.
Jack's pilot training was somewhat abbreviated due to the fact that he was already trained as a combat pilot. After training Jack was assigned to 28th Fighter Squadron "Scorpions" which was recently equipped with the VF-1 Valkyrie.

Anyone who has seen Jack with his shirt off can clearly see at least 11 criss cross type scars across his back (whip scars), and 15 circular burns across his chest and stomach (cigarette & cigar burns).
