Background:
Aurora comes from a military family so it was only natural that she follow in their footsteps.  Her family moved around a lot, due to them being posted all over the country, but Aurora considers the city of Toronto to be her spiritual home.  Mostly because she has many fond memories of when they were living there.

After completing high school, Aurora enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force Academy.  She had originally intended on becoming a Search and Rescue pilot but that all changed when she first saw the Veritech fighter.  From that moment on, Aurora wanted to pilot one of the fantastic machines.

She was posted to Macross Island as part of the Canadian Forces contingent, but disaster struck when the Zentreadi attacked.  Aurora was unable to make it to her fighter before it was destroyed by the alien invaders.  The hangar that her fighter was stored in drew the ire of a squad of Zentraedi battlepods and they proceeded to try and live the structure.  Aurora, falling back on her rescue training, had been trying to help other pilots and technicians to escape the besieged structure when it collapsed on her.

The collapse of the building injured her spine, nearly crippling her and left her with two notable scars on her face, one across her nose and the other over er left eye.  She spent many months slowly recovering in the hospital while fighting raged on around her.  When she was released, yet not cleared to fly, Aurora worked coordinating rescue teams within the SDF-1.
