General Description:
Most likely due to her Danish heritage, Penelope is slightly taller than the average American, with long slender legs and a slim, rectangular body shape. Her chest is rounded and petite, her hips are narrow, and her stomach is flat, with no hint of fat or muscle. While she's slim, she's not unhealthily so. She has led a somewhat sheltered life, resulting in soft hands and pale skin, minus the tiny freckles that cover her entire body. Her red hair is wavy and goes past her shoulders, and she usually keeps it loose unless she has it tied up in a quick, messy braid. Even before studying abroad and working at her aunt's lab, she never got much exercise. At most, she sometimes does yoga and stretching, though not enough to explain how surprisingly flexible she is.

She's got a pink scar on the left side of her throat that has almost healed, which a now faded tattoo of a bandaid used to cover. She's got another two nearly healed scars on her abdomen, and all of her ear piercings have healed shut. Like most Danes, she seems to prefer black clothing and rarely ventures outside of monotones.

Comments: While not completely inexperienced, Penelope has not had a lot of partners, and none since the robbery. She would entrust herself to her partner and be open to trying out most things, but she wouldn't know where to start if asked to lead. Under normal circumstances, she needs to trust someone before doing anything, she won't seek out one-night stands with strangers.

Penelope is immune to the virus though she does not know that for sure.  She has encountered the dust but never in the presence of a male.  Her reaction to DustLust is thus unknown.

History

Penelope is originally from Denmark and grew up in the capital city of Copenhagen. She lived a fairly normal, Danish life up until her first attempt at university, getting acquainted with booze in her early teens and learning to be mostly independent in her early late teens. Or at least she considered herself to be, graduating high school with good grades and keeping up with a part-time job at a nursing home on the side. The world shattered that illusion three weeks after she had moved into a dorm and begun her studies to become a nurse. She had just gotten back to the dorms after a wild night out with other freshman students, the usual Danish icebreaker shenanigans, when the robbery happened.

A drug addict had broken into the dorms, apparently convinced medical students of any kind would be packing and an easy target. He certainly had no problem following a drunk Penelope inside and to her door. He had probably only intended to use his knife to threaten, but after he accidentally hit Penelope once, it was as if a flip switched and he slashed and stabbed wildly, again and again. It all escalated and happened so quickly, Penelope only remembers it in flashes. Both she and the man were under influence, and a lot of things she only learned after waking up at the hospital. Several deep stab wounds to her abdomen and a cut on her throat nearly cost her her life, but a handful of quick dormmates got her an ambulance to the nearby hospital just in time.

Denmark being a small and relatively safe country, news of her attack had followed her wherever she went. Whether it was speculation about why the man had attacked her of all people, why he had tried to take her clothes off at the end, or what the "once beautiful, now ruined" young lady would do with her future, it felt like a constant barrage of judgment and obscene interest into her life. Once outgoing, popular, and daring, Penelope now locked herself away from the world. Many months of physical and psychological treatment later, Penelope sought the freedom of being an unknown, young woman. Her aunt, Sarah Miller, had often invited her to stay with her in the US, so she did, once she felt safe enough to travel that distance. Her parents allowed it on the condition that she felt well enough to go on her own. She stayed at first on a tourist visa, but she finally felt able to breathe again and so, sensing her hesitation to go back, so Sarah offered to sponsor her if she wished to try her hand at studying again.

That is how Penelope found herself in the US when the virus hit, barely more than a year into her study in Biochemistry at the University of Detroit Mercy. She spent all of her allotted 20 hours on her part-time job at Sarah's lab, and was beginning to find a new life for herself when her world once again got uprooted and destroyed.
