Both of his parents are still alive, married to each other and living together on Valeria. His father, Samson, is a teacher while his mother Katrina is a mining supervisor on the Valerian moon of Ronora.

He has two younger sisters: Stefanie (age 30) who's a plant manager at the Korsak Gold plant on Valeria, and Trina (age 26) who's an Ensign on the General Plinski).

His best friend is Tira Amberleigh who he's known since childhood.

His off-duty clothing tends to be loose collarless shirts, a vest with pockets, and casual slacks, all in muted earth tones.

Personal History:

Although born on Valeria, Jack’s formative teen years were spent on the Valerian moon of Ronora as his mother was the mining supervisor there. Ronora had only a thin atmosphere, but it also had a plentiful supply of dilithium. Although it wasn’t the best quality dilithium, there was still a demand for it. Young Jack was introduced to Star Fleet through the starships that stopped at Ronora for the dilithium. Jack’s father, Sam, believed that Valeria would not be able to fend off any serious attack by the Klingons, or the Romulans, or the Cardassians, or the Borg, or any of the other aggressive star cultures in the area. So, he encouraged Jack to apply to Star Fleet, hoping for a not-too-distant future time when Valeria would join Star Fleet out of necessity if not real desire.

Star Fleet had a similar idea in mind, so Valerians were readily accepted into Star Fleet. Jack excelled at his studies, and soon found himself as an ensign aboard the USS Gagarin. Other postings in his rise to commander included the USS Praxis, the USS Derikev, and the USS Trafalgar. In his experiences, though, he felt that cadets were coming out of the academy ill-prepared for the hazards and responsibilities of the on-coming war, so he turned his attention to training them. When an opportunity came to be an instructor at Star Fleet Academy, he jumped at it.

After serving at the Academy for 6 years, he became increasingly dissatisfied with the politics going on behind the scenes. Feeling it just might be a case of ‘cabin fever’, Jack wanted to get out among the stars again, return to the cutting edge of adventure. It took a while, but StarFleet eventually assigned him to the Mongoose.

Personality:

He’s usually easy-going, but gets very annoyed with anything that smacks of fanaticism to him. He likes space, starships, cats, outdoors, crossbows, bows, and Denebian Sunrise drinks. He dislikes religious fanatics, the Borg, and raktajeno.

His hobbies and past times include studying tactics, astronomy, martial arts (particularly Valerian Combat Ritual and Andorian tae bo), Cygnan ronomo (yoga), mystery novels, wind surfing, word games.
