Home Garden: Balamb (Originally Trabia but transferred to Balamb several years ago.)

Appearance: A Shumi, Neophyte is tall and thin, noticeably thinner than would be normal for a human but does not seem malnourished. He holds the pale, peachy skin tone of his people and also their unusually large hands which are normally obscured by the long sleeves of a heavily customised uniform. However, his time spent amongst humans has led to some slight, sub-conscious alterations to his physical form. His facial features are more sculpted than that of a typical Shumi, giving a vaguely more human trace to his visage. Despite this he still has a decidedly alien appearance given his black, pupil-less eyes and complete lack of hair.

As mentioned, Neophyte wears a customised uniform when attending the Garden. As well as having greatly lengthened and widened sleeves it incorporates a hood to partially conceal his features. An amendment made at his personal request for reasons he has never publicly released. When out of uniform his almost exclusively wears a think, hooded jacket with similarly modified sleeves to hide his hands. This is normally accompanied by jeans and heavy, combat boots.

Personality: Quiet by nurture and isolated by nature Neophyte has a lot of introverted tendencies and can find it difficult to communicate with their fellow students. Not shy per-say, but reluctant to initiate conversation and uncertain in many social situations it can take time for him to open up. Those that do get the chance to know them find a calm, reserved individual with a strong curiosity and insatiable appetite for knowledge. Although often seeming detached or unintentionally distancing themselves they are quite quick to be-friend those who are patient and hold loyalty to be a virtue.

Miscellaneous:
Weapon Speciality: Blade gauntlets.

A device partly of his own creation, the blade gauntlets were a solution to him not wishing to expose his hands during combat whilst also taking advantage of their size and strength. Which would of made wielding normal weapons impractical.

In essence, they are a pair of armoured gauntlets that fully enclose from elbow to fingertip. Along the arm is reinforced to allow some limited ability to block whilst his hand proper is covered in a complex, bladed glove. Segmented and utilising aspects of bio-technological integration practised by the Shumi he has surprising mobility and flexibility whilst wearing the weapons which make his large hands resemble giants claws. But due to their nature he faces obvious impracticalities in the field where he may have to remove them for many tasks.

Element: Death, Dark, Non-elemental damage.

Appearance: Liquid shadow. Undulating, flowing and formless. Shapeless but emitting a potent aura of dreadful, inevitable finality and solidity. Malefic is a creature of darkness, light sinking into its oily, obscured depths to never be seen again, lost to some hidden singularity within. The flawless black of its essences is only broken by occasional points of dull light that form like swirling vortexes within the shadows which seem to function as Malefic's eyes.

When it materialises physically, it often sculpts itself into an appropriate form for the given situation. Most commonly it takes a roughly humanoid shape with a sinister, predatory nature but has been known to take any number of others dependant upon its whim.
