Thief Solo Game

The city of Hexaville was was originally an elven colony known as Muervana (City by the Sea). More than 1000 years ago, a great upheaval of peoples across the continent led to a refugee crisis. Humans, who, save for a few coastal communities, had long dwelt in the frozen plains of the northeast, came from out of their homeland in vast numbers, followed by hordes of goblinoids. The chaos that followed from this event upended the social order of the world around them. The elven empire, which had once stretched for 1000s of miles across Arelas, would soon crumble and fall as the elves retreated to their ancestral homeland.

Muervana became a place where many of the displaced settled down. Peaceful people from among the five 'civilized' races, humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, and halflings, made it a place where they could huddle together in safety against the chaos. As the old order broke down, the residents had to create a new order or fall into chaos themselves. Joined by the growing number of half-elves among their ranks, the residents of the once elven city signed a constitution of sorts known as the Treaty of Six, for the 6 races involved. It retained the old elven head of state, now known as the king, but tempered his powers with a legislature of representatives from each of the six races. To protect the new city from the many enemies outside, walls were built. To commemorate the treaty, the walls were built with 6 sides. Soon, the city became known as Hexaville.

To ensure the peaceful coexistence of six different groups of people, laws were enacted to strongly protect the rights of all individuals against each other and the state. Although intended to maintain order, they had the effect of creating wealth. Today, Hexaville is the wealthiest city in all Arelas. It's power has grown, as well, so that what was once a city-state now controls an entire kingdom that stretches across the peninsula of Kruke.
