Lorraine is the mother of all Corwin's children (and thus the mother of your PCs). She comes from the Shadow of Tilaine, a Bronze Age world where sorcery is a rare talent, usually commanded by women. Long before Lorraine was born, there was a man named Apox. Apox was incredibly handsome, and a very talented and charming seducer. After a string of easy early conquests, Apox set his sights on the sorceresses of his reality, making it his business to find them, seduce them, learn the secrets of their power, and then kill them. By combining the knowledge and power he obtained, he was able to create an elixir of immortality. Or at least, what he believed would be immortality. In truth, the elixir merely extended his lifespan considerably and slowed down his aging. With his greatly expanded lifespan and new powers, he began conquering tribes and built for himself an empire of slavery and tyranny.

All of that was before Lorraine's time. By the time she was born, Apox had been lord and master of Tilaine for several generations. Her parents were rebels against his rule, and she was born into the struggle. She grew up in the fight and when she was barely a teenager, she took up arms against Apox's forces. She'd been a fighter for the better part of fifteen years local time when Corwin arrived, exploring the universe of his new Pattern. He appeared near one of the battlefields, where he watched Lorraine commanding troops in a fierce pitched battle. Taken by her resemblance to his lost sister Deirdre, he joined the battle on her side and routed the enemy troops. Afterwards, he joined with the rebellion. Lorraine's passion was admirable but her troops and tactics were woefully unprepared for this fight. Corwin joined as a soldier, rose in the ranks rapidly, and soon had revolutionized the rebellion. With his help, the rebels beat Apox's forces back to his citadel. Lorraine and Corwin led the final assault and put an end to the "immortal" emperor. In the process of all that, Corwin and Lorraine fell in love, and when he returned to Avalon, he brought her with her as his wife and Queen.

Lorraine raised all her children well, but her past informed her parenting. All of her children recieved training in how to defend themselves at the very least, and Lorraine was not one to go easy on her children just because they were her children. Her parents (your grandparents) drilled her mercilessly in how to fight as a child, and while she's not as overbearing as they were, she was very much a "hands-on" instructor in the martial arts. Lorraine loves her children, and she isn't hesitant to show it. She is also not afraid to be the disciplinarian or the taskmistress, if such is needed. Going from a rebel commander to an Empress has been something of a learning curve for her. She is not always comfortable with the protocols of Court and she wouldn't be shy about expressing that around her family, in private. In public though, she is every bit the regal ruler her subjects expect. Remember also, that Lorraine comes from the perspective of a Bronze Age woman who is more than a little surprised that she lived long enough to bring your generation to adulthood.
