Gucker Strongcaller

Guild Records on Individual
Non Member
Goliath
Ranger of Necromancy
31 Years Old
Homeland: Unknown

Appearance:
Gucker has a muscular, athletic build, thick-set features and a jaw you could crack rocks on. Grey eyes stare from beneath a heavy brow and his thick white hair is matted into unruly locks behind a trimmed dome. From his prominent teeth to his grey-tinged skin, his goliath heritage is unmistakable, setting him apart from the crowd. He makes no apologies for who or what he is, though and holds his head high and proud, wearing his heavy arms and armour like one born to it. An undercurrent of menace shrouds everything he does and he sports numerous scars as testament to a life of war and pain.

He wears practical traveling clothes in plain dun, dark and grey, including a hooded cloak. The jagged spikes and studded metal surrounding his clothes leave an imposing impression over anyone who gets a good look at him. Over his shirt and arming jack, he wears a leather tunic armoured with brass scales and what looks to be a skull of an imp fitted to his right shoulder. At his waist, a a belt of loose daggers hangs dangly at his right hip, long enough to touch the floor when standing straight. At his left hip, a coiled bullwhip dangles menacingly from a hook designed for purpose.

Guild Records according to findings and investigation:
Carrying a dark demeanor and a darker reputation still, Gucker, as he is known in the undercurrents of society, is an outcast of harsh reputation. Infamous for his brutal tactics and a lack of regard for the well-being of others -- allies and foes, alike -- he has garnered aliases such as the "Dusk Shadow", the "Paingiver" and the "Night Widower", to name a few. Woe betide those who find him contracted against them, for their days are most surely numbered.

It was not, however, always this way.

Born in the streets of an unknown city, he was brought him and adopted to a wealthy trader father in the City of Hersuf, Gucker grew up in the lap of luxury with his two older step-sisters, Ilda and Rae. An avid hunter taught by his father, Gucker's skill in archery netted him great admiration in his youth. He and his family lived much of their lives abroad, traveling to far-off exotic locales and hunting various forms of game.

Everything changed when, on the eve of the family's return home for holiday, his father was wrongly accused of heresy against the Grand Caliph by one of his business rivals and arrested. Bearing false evidence to support his testimony, the council found his father guilty of his accusations, and Gucker watched his father hauled away to be stoned.

He and his family were stripped of all their wealth and titles, and were forced to take refuge in the wilderness. Not old enough to hold down a job, for a time, Gucker supported his family by hunting wild game. About a year later, however, he returned home one evening to find his family brutally slaughtered by wilderness Goliath Barbarians in a ritual of blood sport.

Enraged by his loss, something in Gucker snapped that night, and any care for civility or humanity dissolved within him. Gucker took his hunting bow and systematically hunted down the barbarian horde responsible for his family's deaths, massacring them to the last and driving them into extinction.

For this, he claimed his first bounty and title.

Realizing there was only one thing left for him in his homeland aside from painful memories, Gucker took revenge against the conspirators who had seen his father stoned to death by slitting their throats in a night of blood and violence. Gone from his home by daybreak, Gucker had packed what little he had and boarded a caravan bound for Dene, seeking out a new life for himself.

Today, little is known about Gucker, aside from the frightening hearsay that swirls about him. In truth, it is not even known if Gucker was his original name, or simply one of a number of other aliases he has taken over the course of his life. All he has now is his determination to survive in a cruel, uncaring world, fighting only for himself and his own gain.

Now one of the most feared bounty hunters alive in Dene, having traveled the width and breadth of what the world had to offer. Gucker is a cold and calculating hunter, known to have taken refuge within a clandestine guild that has yet made itself known even to this day. Speculation arises that he works alone, or he works with the Thief's Guild, but no actual evidence states those theories are true.
