Devils are the twisted remnants of angels who sided with The Seven against the Nine Heroes, transformed into twisted monsters. Devils have a complex hierarchy that encourages cutthroat politics, and need to collect souls to transform into more powerful and influential forms. They also seek opportunities to work mischief in the mortal world, as well as break the seals that keep most of their kin confined to the Seven Hells. To this end, they make pacts and bargains with mortals, both to corrupt them in the afterlife and to advance their interests outside of the Hells. Devils will keep to the letter of any bargain struck, but often find ways to twist the spirit to bring about unintended consequences. Like Fae, they cannot directly lie, but are exceptionally good at misleading statements, lies of omission, false reassurances, and the like.
