[q]1st level hits are max, so looks like you'll start with 8+1=9[/q]
Good news, indeed! I am actually pretty relieved.
I'm pretty much done with my character's basic stats; I have them on a document here with me(where are the character sheets?)
I wanted to ask, though, if I can use the "Quasi-class" options [
http://basicfantasy.org/downlo...es-Supplement-r2.pdf] for my character? I think these are really swell. I like complexity. Here's what I'm thinking, in brief: I'm thinking it would be cool for my fighter to be a "sage" (see page 8) - i.e. a scholar of some sort (probably a historian/antiquarian), with some basic knowledge of the martial arts from his youth, but now nearly middle-aged and pretty set in his bookish ways (i.e. out of shape). His name is Sepulos, a researcher and occasional professor from the university in Beymarth, some 150 miles to the north. He is in town researching documents and artifacts held in the local museum archives pertaining to a mysterious elf culture that flourished in the area about a thousand years ago and has since disappeared. When Gilgamar is sacked, he hides down in the basement storage area of the museum/archives, where he comes across, among various other artifacts pertaining to the ancient race, a rusty broadsword, some chain-mail, and a shield (i.e. the "class pack"), which he quickly grabs in case he needs to defend himself. Basically, Sepulos is a "fighter" because that's the only generic profession into which he might reasonably--though it's a stretch--fit. We can call him a scholar by inclination and profession, and (now) a fighter by sheer necessity. Sadly, his last "fight" (with weapons, not with words) was over 20 years ago!
Needless to say, with his ancient and rusty weapon and armor, not to mention his decidedly non-martial bearing, Sepulos presents himself as a rather curious specimen!
(Those are the basics right now, more to follow on the character sheet).
Please let me know about the quasi-character option. . . .
