Rory's House

Zoey and Allura pull up on Allura's motorcycle and see the door to the house is open.

Zoey walks up to the door and knocks as she calls out, "Jeremy?  Hey, its Zoey and Allura." She glances at the tall blonde and shrugs as she enters their friends house.

Allura shrugs and closes the door behind her.

"Jeremy ? You left your door open."

The girls hear some muffled sounds from inside.

Zoey frowns and heads towards the noise cautiously. "Great," she mumbled.

Allura looked around and grabbed a heavy object in case she needed it.

She followed along after Zoey.

The two get to the stairs to the basement where the sounds are coming from.

They both hear some laughter and then a horrible stench wafts up from the basement.

Zoey covered her mouth and nose with her hand and opened the door more so they could go down the stairs. "Jeremy, you in here? Ugh, what's that smell?"

There is a blast of strong wind and a greenish cloud flows past the two.

"I was going to joke about you and bean burritos but that is truly horrible ugh." Allura lifts her shirt putting it over her mouth using her hand to hold it in place and heads down with Zoey.

"What the..?"  Glancing down the stairs Zoey heads into the basement quickly. "Jeremy?  Hey, you okay?"

The two find Jeremy tied up. He seems to have gotten beaten up.

Zoey runs to Jeremy and unties him. "Hey, who did this Jeremy?  What's going on?"

The Professor looks to Zoey and says, "Allura, she is dangerous she.."  Then he see's Allura and winces trying to back away.

"Allura?  Jeremy you know her, she's about as dangerous as an angry flea.  Unless you mess with her bike, then I'd run if I were you."

She looks to Allura, "Can you look around and see if anybody else is around?"

Allura nods and looks around carrying her makeshift club with her.

Susan and Rory pull up at the house.

After Allura had gone to check things out, Zoey turned back to Jeremy. "What's going on Professor?  Who did this to you?"

Jeremy, "Her Zoey she isn't safe. Don't trust her !"
"Please untie me."

She starts to untie him, "It couldnt have been her, Jeremy.  Allura's been with me all day.  Something's going on under the water and its going start here too.  What was that gas that came out of here?"

Zoey looks at Jeremy once more, then blacks out.

Seeing the other vehicle, Susan got out of her SUV quickly.
"I think either Zoey, Allura or both are already here.  C'mon, let's go inside!"

She rushed inside the house.

Allura hearing a vehicle heads outside.

"Ah crap, listen I didn't do anything." She dropped the heavy object in her hands and hopped on her bike.

"Tell Zoey sorry, your dad Rory, and Zoey are downstairs."

She roars off on her bike.

Susan blinked in surprise.
"Allura!!!  Wait!!!"

Rory nodded at Allura as she mounted the bike and left the scene.

He then run into the house, directly to the basement finding his dad tied up. "Dad are you OK?"

Jeremy looks to Rory, "My boy, be careful your friend is dangerous she beat me up and tied me up. I don't know what happened to Zoey she untied me but she must have been hit or something. She fell but I didn't see what did it."

Rory looked around, spotting Zoey on the floor. "Zoey!"

He knelt down and seemed to be about to shake her, then looked back at his father. "Everyone has been doing weird stuff. I think that people are getting possessed. Whatever it is could be in Zoey right now or..." Rory didn't finish the sentence. "Did Allura take the book?"

Jeremy, "Book, what book are you talking about ?"

Susan rushed in.
"What happened?   Where's Zoey?"

Rory answered Susan's question first. "Here."

"I was talking about Nyarlathotep's book." Rory proceeded to activate his telepathic ability to ready Jeremy's reaction to the revelation.

Spend a PP to activate telepathy to ready Jeremy's surface thoughts.

Rory looks into his stepfathers mind and finds he has no memory of the book. There is also some fog in his thoughts.

Susan tried to wake Zoey up.

Zoey begins to stir and wake up, her hand going to her head. "Ugh, what happened?"  She looked up to see the others but no Allua.

"Hey guys, glad you could make it.  Where's Allura, she okay?"  Zoey looked around confused.

Susan shook her head.
"Allura took off out of here like a Baptist from a Strip Club, screaming 'I didn't do it!!' and rode off before we could stop her.  Rory thinks that something was messing with everyone's mind.  Probably an evil book we found in the school library yesterday."

"Didnt do it?  What didnt she do?"  Zoey shook her head and stood up slowly, "I dont remember what happened, but we went swimming earlier and overheard some Deep Ones talking.  I, I think that's when we decided to come here after Jeremy wasnt at the library.  That's right, that's what we came here for."

She turned to Jeremy, "Why are we banned from the private section of the library?"

Jeremy said, "I don't know Allura knocked me out yesterday and tied me up threatening me and I have been here till you untied me."

Susan frowned, confused.
"Yesterday??  Has she been here the whole time?"

"Allura wouldn't do that Professor, you know that.  I'll call her and find out what's going on with her and why she left so quick."

Zoey took out her phone and dialed Allura.  "She was with me since this morning.  We went to Oceana then here."

Spend 1 PP for phone useful detail

Susan worked up a spell to detect any lingering magic in the area.

Susan senses a big wash of magic energy almost overwhelming.

Trying not to freak out, she attempts to decipher what's there.

Susan detects traces of herself in the magic but also like there is a crack in reality making magic ?? more powerful.

"We saw you this morning. either someone is messing with our minds or there's a shape-shifter around." After a few moments of silence, Rory looked away guiltily. "It feels like someone has messed with your mind. Sorry, I had to check that it was really you."

Rory gave his dad a short recap on what had happened. " This whole thing is really freaky. The book tried taking over Susan earlier. She went in a trance and started reading from it. After that, we took the book to Malcom who told us more about it. It was your suggestion. After that, we stored it in the restricted section of the library."

Susan feels her energies are somehow mingled with the massively powerful magic she feels around her. Though only a little like a spell she may have released unfinished. Perhaps the spell interrupted when Rory shook her out of the trance.


Jeremy looks to Rory, "I don't remember doing any of that, if there is a shapeshifter and they gained access to the restricted section of the library that could be very dangerous. You said you spoke to Malcolm ? I better contact him straight away."

Rory nodded. "OK. I think that he needs to be warned about this."

He then proceeded to untie Jeremy.

Jeremy looks to be about to head upstairs, "Is your friend ok ?" He looks to Susan.

Susan nodded.
"Zoey is okay, but confused, but I'm really worried about Allura.  I think something happened to her."

Jeremy, "Something is wrong with her alright, she damn near killed me."

Jeremy headed up to talk to and warn Malcolm.

Zoey shook her head as she watched Jeremy leave the basement.  She turned to Rory and Susan, "You two know Allura wouldnt do something like that.  Right?  We've gone up against some weird stuff before, this is just another time like that.  I'll keep trying her and talk to her, but there's something going on."

Trying to remember her visit to Oceana, Zoey sighed. "There's an evil guy coming, and even the Deep Ones seemed to be disturbed.  Some Nyrotholep pharaoh or something like that.  The Knights are looking into it too." She begins telling her friends what her and Allura had found out earlier that morning.

In reply to Zoey Krass (msg # 49):

"Yes, we've had the occasional disagreement with Allura, but she'd never do this voluntarily.  And, heck, if she DID do it, knowing her she'd have had a good reason, at least to her, and she'd  be proud and smug about it, not ashamed and, frankly, scared that she'd done it."

Susan blinked with surprise at the other announcement about the Deep ones, looking even more shocked.
"That's what that stupid BOOK said, too!  I think that means that either he's already here, or that he's got groupies here doing his prep work. "

Rory nodded. "Yeah, something weird is definitely going on. It's not just Allura, my dad was acting weird too. I trust them both and know that they wouldn't deliberately try to harm us but when magic is involved, you can't really jump to conclusions but we should be careful until this whole thing blows over. I would suggest passwords or something but I don't think that it would help."

Susan sighed with frustration.
"True enough.  We need to find Allura.  The fact that she ran out so fast without talking to us either meant she was still under the book's influence, or was so freaked out she couldn't think clearly. "

"I'll go after Allura if you two want to find out whats going on with Jeremy and this Dark Pharaoh guy.  Call me, okay."

Susan frowned with concern.
"Are you sure, Zoey?   Allura might be a normal person, mostly, but if that weird book is doing some magical shenanigans, it might be dangerous."

She nodded, "I'll stay at a distance until I know whats going on with her.  I'll use the birds to help spy on her.  Dont worry."

Susan blinked in surprise.
"You can talk to birds, now??  When did THAT start?"
She seemed more amused than shocked.

Zoey smiled, "Seagulls.  If its a marine animal I can communicate with it."

Susan chuckled.
"That's a bit of a relief.  I don't know if I could talk to birds.  I'd never be able to eat chicken again."

Zoey chuckled, "Yeah, I guess not huh.  Alright, I'll catch up with you two later then.  Keep me posted."

Susan nodded and smiled, waving goodbye as Zoey left.   she turned her attention to the chaos in the house.

"Good luck and call us if things get out of hand."

There is a certain lingering smell in the air. Rory finds it pleasant but Susan finds it repulsive.

Rory looked around. "Can you smell that? It smells kinda sweet."

Susan made a sour face and looked at Rory with confusion.
"What?  You're kidding, right?   This smells like a zombie farted in the boys bathroom."

Despite her better judgment, Susan moved to find the source of the smell, fearing the worst.

Rory raised an eyebrow. "Weird, it doesn't smell bad to me."

The smell seems to be lingering in the basement.

Susan winced at Rory's words.
"That's probably not a good sign.  Probably means it's magical or something. "
The raven haired witch moved towa the basement to go downstairs.

Opening the door back down to the basement the smell wafts up stronger.

Susan turned on the lights, fighting off a gag reflex.

Rory had a content smile on his face, apparently unperturbed by the smell. He shrugged. "It could be."

He then began heading down the stairs, looking around for the source of the smell.

The smell seemed to linger in the basement. There doesn't seem to be a source but with the door left open it begins to lift.

Confusion visible on her face, Susan searched the basement carefully,  both with normal and magical sight.

The magical energies down in the basement are strong and she still feels her own energy mingled with it. The basement seems to have become a strong nexus for magical energies.

Susan tried to find a focal point.

It was too pervasive for her to find any one spot in the basement.

Shaking her head, Susan looked at Rory.
"This whole basement is a nexus of magic.  Was it always like that?"

Rory shrugged. "Not as far as I know."

OOC:  Does Susan know any spells to dampen magic in an area, perhaps something to cleanse the area?

OOC: Ah yes, I keep forgetting.
Susan will spend a plot point to try to find a way to dispel or contain the magic.

OOC Which would she like to do ? ^_^

She'd like to drain the magic out of the area, perhaps putting it into an object she might find lying around.

Ok Useful detail Magical Drain and just pick an object to put it in.

She'll use her wristwatch.   She only wears it because her mother thinks it's fashionable, since she uses her phone to check the time.  ;)

Ok sounds good, build your pool and give it a roll ^_^

Chanting in ancient Hebrew, Susan tried to make her watch a repository for the rogue magic in the room.

Susan's watch fills with the energy and she notices a change in it. It starts running erratically and a few more digits appear on the dial.

Susan stared in fascination, then winced.
"Hmmm....perhaps I should keep this in my purse,  rather than on my wrist..."

She took off the watch to better analyze it.

It sure is interesting. All the symbols have changed and at least three other hours ? If they are still hours have been added to the dial. The best thing though is that horrible smell is gone.

Susan tried to figure out what the magic was and where it was from, to better protect Rory's father and home.

It seems to be magic with a hint of what she actually knew to be space (Having spent one time in space on Pluto with her friends in one of their earlier misadventures.) Though she also senses the magic is twisted and wrong as well.

Susan looked at Rory, concern etched on her face.
"It's definitely alien, and full of....wrongness,  somehow.    Like it's  chaos magic,  maybe?   Or one of those non euclidian  kind of places that horror writers wrote about. "

Rory seemed slightly concerned. "You don't think that it's linked to Pluto?"

Susan bit her lip pensively, shaking her head with a shrug.
"It's possible.  I mean, it's a big galaxy out there, but I'm not sure if it's better or worse to have 'the evil we know..somewhat' or a new one."

The camera zooms in on Rory then into his head.

He and the audience hear a voice, "I thought I felt something familiar, you should have read the book not HER."

(Rory would seemed distracted, as if he hadn't quite heard Susan's words.)

The young man attempted to respond Telepathically. "Hey don't blame me for not being able to read ancient Egyptian! You must be Nyarlathotep. They call me Rory by the way."

Susan frowned at the distracted young man, hoping he was just deep in thought about their situation.

Rory hears a response as does the audience, ~Oh why so formal ? You have named me in the tongue of humans. Why don't you find that book and read it Rory.~

Rory responded to the voice in his head. "Tempting... So, why is it that you found me familiar?"

Susan sees Rory seem to daze out.

~Oh, you don't feel it Rory ? We are not of this world we are greater.~

"You know, there's something that I've always wondered about Earth. Everyone goes on about how it's a parochial backwater planet. So, what is it about this place that makes it such an attractive destination for inter-dimensional tourists? "

~Tourists ? That is an interesting interpretation. I could care less mostly though others see this world as theirs an humanity just a passing phase before their return. You could be part of that reality.~

Susan looked at  the handsome but vapid looking young man suspiciously.
She reached out, as if to poke him gently in the arm to get his attention,  but hesitated,  her soft voice cautious and concerned.
"Um.....Rory.  Have you got some mental mishegas going on there,  or are you just deep in thought? "

Rory raised a finger, in an attempt to indicate that he was trying to concentrate.

~ I can understand their viewpoint. As a whole, the human race is naive and immature. You could even say that they have reckless tendencies. But they are learning, adapting, changing. Slow as that change may be, I want to see where their path will lead them. ~ Rory paused. ~ I'm sorry, I can't let you in. Humanity just isn't ready to deal with the fallout that would follow. ~

OoC: Rory will activate this. 'Earn a plot point and add D6 to trouble when you assume others can't possibly follow your intellect.'

Confused and concerned, but trusting Rory, Susan waited patiently (or faked patience) as he did whatever he did.

~Perhaps, you would know, living with them. Reckless tendencies ? That sounds almost promising. Still the door is open I shall be there soon enough to see for myself.~

~In that case, I guess that we will be meeting soon.~

~Soon ? Impatient ? I suppose it will be soon. Rory feels the voice trail off as if leaving his range of telepathy.

Rory closed his eyes and shook his head. "Well, that was disconcerting."

He turned to Susan. "Sorry, I was having a conversation with our friendly neighbourhood Pharaoh. Apparently, He's found a way through to our side..."

Susan's big brown eyes got even larger as she reacted to the young man's  news.

"Well.....crap.  The guy is a friendly sort, I'll give him that.   Can I assume  that he's not coming for 'tea and dumplings '?"

"I believe that it is more likely linked to'world domination and what have you not'" Rory put on his best British accent for the final part of his response.

Despite the seriousness of the situation,  Susan let out an involuntary giggle at Rory's British accent.  Then she immediately covered her mouth with her hand,  mortified that the adorable sound had some out of her.
Clearing her throat in an attempt to regain some semblance of dignity,  she smiled sheepishly at Rory, trying to speak in an authoritative British accent as well.
"Welp, then, it certainly behooves us to do what we can to intercede on behalf of the world, in order to put a stop to this ballyhoo, what what?"
Her British accent was terrible,  however,  sounding more like an "old money" blue blood from Boston or Gotham City.
