Re: Battle Royal #11: Ranuth vs. Panian vs. Bruhli

OOC: In that case, I started charging from L8, at which point you moved to L20 upon seeing my charge, so I can now finish my charge. From L20, you are still within my charge range so the attack still stands. The thing about readied actions is you need to be very specific, e.g. when Bruhli is within 20ft from me I move to L20. By saying I move when I see Bruhli charge, that's from L8 (when I began charging).

Re: Battle Royal #11: Ranuth vs. Panian vs. Bruhli

Except when you start to charge, you have to do it in a straight line in one direction. If you're charging towards T20 and I move after you begin your charge, you can't change direction mid charge to come towards L8. Or am I missing something here?

Just double-checked the charge rules, and retract my previous statement. Carry on. I think it's Panian's turn.

First, when was I wrong in the first place? Second, using a hero point to act out of turn uses up your next action. Ranuth used up his Round 2 action. You didn't use a hero point to take an extra action. You used a hero point to act out of turn (i.e. why you interrupted my turn). It's only an extra action if the hero point was used during your turn.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamema...er-rules/hero-points
quote:
Act Out of Turn: You can spend a hero point to take your turn immediately. Treat this as a readied action, moving your initiative to just before the currently acting creature. You may only take a move or a standard action on this turn.

Lol, this is descending quickly.

The above is from the rules here on this site.

Re: Battle Royal #11: Ranuth vs. Panian vs. Bruhli

OOC:  This is the rule you quoted, I just underlined a portion of it.

Extra Action: You can spend a hero point on your turn to gain an additional standard or move action this turn.

You didn't use the hero point on your turn. Meaning this is not what you did. You used a hero point on my turn to act out of turn. Thus, the hero point 'act out of turn' rules apply. And those rules, as quoted above, show that using a hero point to act out of turn takes up your next action.

EDIT: I just edited the rule. It actually read something different on the Paizo site. Here it is.

That reads to me as saying 'You may take a move, swift, or standard action outside of your turn'. Doesn't really matter though, just get a GM ruling on it so we won't keep arguing about it.

OOC: The whole, treat it as a readied action, is from the 'act out of turn.'

Re: Battle Royal #11: Ranuth vs. Panian vs. Bruhli

I agree with you that the SRD says that. But the house rules of this site/game trump that.

Extra Action: Take an extra standard, move or swift action outside of your turn. This does not change initiative nor count against your actions for the round but can interrupt someone else's action similar to the way a readied action works.

The above is what is written in the character creation section of the Arena Rules. It is different than RAW, and as far as I know, is the rule that is used.

By the house rule, you are right. It was your turn next. Now that you've taken your turn its mine. Whoops, I didn't see that new addition. Good catch. I'll post my turn when I can.

With a back swing, Bruhli hit Ranuth, scorching the Vanara. And Bruhli’s second attack would have missed, but something unusual happened. As Bruhli’s sword swung to miss the Vanara, ethereal hands belonging to his ancestors grasped and moved it to strike true, bringing the Vanara to his knees. Bruhli’s ancestors refused to let such a creature stand against the suli barbarian. As the fight ended, Bruhli fell out of his elemental form, but he continued to rage! "I MUST HAVE MORE COMBAT?!" He felt redeemed after his previous fight. Bruhli grabbed Panian under one arm, and Ranuth under the other, it's time to go to the medical bay.
