Haran shiftily walks into the arena. He looks in Krumm’s direction and shakes his head. He had fought Krumm once before in a grand match. And he had high hopes for him because they shared a bloodline. But the creature that stood before Haran had lost it. “Krumm, what happened? You had so much potential before.” “Watch out for him Haran. I have heard tales of such creatures who, instead of mastering their bloodline are instead mastered by the bloodline. They turn into slavering beasts, ruled by their emotions and rage. They can’t control it. There are some who master their bloodline and become like you. There are others who don’t and become Bloodragers.” “Too bad Krumm.” Haran smiles. He then unfurls his hands and begins to walk up the wall pulling out a rod. He casts a familiar spell. Little dragons begin to zip and zag around Haran. He was ready.

“Keep your silence. Talking would only show you for the simple bloodrager you are.” It didn’t help Haran’s impression of Krumm when he pulled out a simple weapon: a javelin. Despite his talk, Haran was impressed that Krumm recognized his spell as Dazing Persistent Snapdragon Fireworks. “This knowledge alone won’t help you. You need power Krumm.” Haran snaps his fingers and one of the little dragon fireworks streaks toward Krumm hitting him with fire and force.

OOC: GM Akrim, in the header it says Reflex negates, but in the text of the spell it says reflex for half.
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/...snapdragon-fireworks
quote:
Creatures in the target square take 1d4 points of fire damage and are dazzled for 1 round (Reflex half, a successful save negates the dazzled condition).

On a failed save, Krumm would take 7 points and be dazed and dazzled for 1 round.
On a passed save, Krumm would only take 3.

CONTINUED TURN

Haran laughs. “It appears that you’re a new man. Show me what you’ve learned.”

That is lie. Using the same trick against Haran over and over again, that is insanity.” Haran looked down upon Krumm that poor poor Bloodrager. He had no idea what he was doing.

Re: Duel #182: Haran vs. Krumm

While the action may be Legit, Haran can't make a readied action for something that happens during his turn.

Reference:
PFSRD:
Ready
The ready action lets you prepare to take an action later, after your turn is over but before your next one has begun. Readying is a standard action. It does not provoke an attack of opportunity (though the action that you ready might do so).

Re: Duel #182: Haran vs. Krumm

OOC: Well damn, I never even bothered to think about that. It actually says "after your turn is over" verbatim. So you can't take a readied on your own turn...huh. Well, even I keep learning something new about this game even to this day. I guess that was the game designers' clever way of avoiding readied action loops and self-fulfilling readied actions.

You guys want to retcon or...what?

Re: Duel #182: Haran vs. Krumm

There was really no need for me to take a readied action. I could just have easily had that be my standard action. It would have resulted in the same thing. I'd rather just call it my standard action and we wouldn't have to retcon anything for the same result.

Re: Duel #182: Haran vs. Krumm

OOC: Well, GM Akrim left it up to us to decide what to do. Seeing as I am the only one who provided an answer, we go with that. In other words, I'll just rename my readied action as my standard action for that turn. In other words, I directed spell (Move), Krumm to move (Readied Action), Cast Scorching Ray after Krumm's move (Standard Action) <-- which is practically what I did any way, I just tried to use a readied action to do it, which in retrospect, didn't make sense. Why not just wait for Krumm to make his readied action to move, which I knew he was going to do, and then cast scorching ray as a standard once he was finished? I have no idea why I didn't do this in the first place. I suppose because I wanted a trap card too.

Seeing as I'm the only one who put forward a solution, we go with my plan of simply renaming my readied as my standard. This way, we don't have to change anything really.

Also, it's been 5 days. I would like to call the 48 hour rule.

Re: Duel #182: Haran vs. Krumm

OOC: Krumm takes the total defense action. Haran can resolve the situation based on his own judgment. By not responding, Krumm has given Haran full control over that decision. Also, that's a strike for Krumm. First strike is a warning, second is 50% rewards win or lose, third is disqualification.

OOC: So, I'm going to be gone for a week starting from about 7 hours from now. My initial plan was to drag this out (ICly, not OOCly - really sorry about making you wait so long) to see how well I would do, but I don't think it's fair to have you wait another week for me to be able to post.

I have 29 HP left, less if I don't take the readied action I prepared this round. With that in mind, I'm going to go ahead and forfeit, as it's the responsible thing to do. GJ Haran. We'll fight again sometime, hopefully when I'm more prepared.
