Re: Team Match #4: Tina & Maelstrom vs. Brakt & Josep

Boadicea:
sorry for taking so long been busy, Josep is correct Maelstrom your actions may be legal however you listed them in an illegal manner so you are standing at the end of your move action with your shirt activated.  Please also note your movement or its assumed you took the most direct route which in this case is more than what your movement is even with ability x3 to go up x2 to go down.

If you had listed your actions as: Activate Shirt (Swift), Move and pull out dust and acrobatics as part of move (Move Action), Use dust (Hero point Action), Flurry of Blows (Full Round Action)

It would all work.

quote:
Extra Action: During your turn, you can take an extra standard, move or swift action. This does not count against your normal limited number of actions.

Josep please wait to post till this is resolved.

To help move this along I figured I would help you with the line you missed, redoing your action line was not an option given if you had caught the error then you could have fixed it, to late now.  Also I figured out my question on your ability, I was using the challenge as a quick refrence which lists you as a Monk which is a diffrent class than Unchained Monk your PM does state  you are Unchained guess I did not figure I needed to compare evryones classes to challenge ...

Re: Team Match #4: Tina & Maelstrom vs. Brakt & Josep

Why can't I just update my action line? There are no substantive changes to my actions. All my changes are in name only.

In the event that nominal changes, which don't affect anyone else's turn, are problematic -

Then I should be able to redo my actions because they were based on Brakt being 3x3, not 2x2. That is a substantive change that actually affected what I did. My turn was based on incorrect information, not my own fault, as such I should be able to redo my actions because they were based on incorrect information.

Re: Team Match #4: Tina & Maelstrom vs. Brakt & Josep

sorry Maelstrom I stand by my decision as far as Brakt's size if you want you can still strike him from B5 and I guess because you still have not given your movement you can change it but you need to keep the actions up to and including activate shirt the same.  As far as your class goes there is no easy way to fix it so if the rest are ok with you being an unchained monk instead of regular monk seeing as everyone agreed to fight a lvl 9 monk, take your lick and lets continue please

Re: Team Match #4: Tina & Maelstrom vs. Brakt & Josep

Boadicea, relating to Brakt, his size affected my strategy than more than you're giving it credit for. I really shouldn't have to do this but to breakdown my strategy it goes like this:

Also, Boadicea, you need to be consistent. You split my turn up by allowing all the actions previous to the error, but denying all the actions after the error. I get that. That is a very GM thing to do, is to go back to right before the point of error and start there. Once again, that is a very GM thing to do. But you can't decide to have one error result in a redo but not another error. You shouldn't treat errors differently. And if you do treat errors differently, then why is the error that materially affected someone else's turn okay but the error that did not materially affect someone else's turn not okay?

You are in a sense, forgiving Brakt's error though it materially affected my turn and telling me my error was worthy of punishment (figure of speech). It smacks of bias, not that I'm saying that, but it can look that way. Look either, both errors should have a redo from the point of error or neither error should have a redo from the point of error. Be consistent Boadicea.

You can gripe, threaten, and be snarky like GM Arkrim. I get that. It comes with being a GM. But behind all the griping and snarkiness, GM Akrim is fair and tries to be consistent.

Re: Team Match #4: Tina & Maelstrom vs. Brakt & Josep

“Josep! Why run from an honorable fight?” Maelstrom then began to move toward the mage, hopped up onto the hill and pulled out some dust. He looked cautiously at Tina. “I’m sorry Tinny. I couldn’t help it. I went into your workshop and I borrowed some of the dust. But I left some coppers to pay for it.” After all, it’s just dust Maelstrom thought. How expensive could it be? When Maelstrom finally saw Josep again, there were seven of them. He grunted “Will the real Josep Gavinho please stand up?” I hope this works. He used the dust and winked out of sight.

A burst of energy consumes Brakt and Josep.

Re: Team Match #4: Tina & Maelstrom vs. Brakt & Josep

<i> Josep liked drawing first, but this time he was not the fastest...

He tried to temper Maelstrom's advantage and fire some rays, but his efficiency left much to be desired...
At least he had managed to bring the monk back to the visible realm.
"Be better than me, Brakt !" he urged his companion.

   ROUND: 1
POSITION: A5 -> B6
 ACTIONS: (free) 5ft step
(standard) cast Dispel Magic on Maelstrom's invisibility
(swift) cast Quickened Empowered Scorching Ray
          (move) none
          (free) keep claws on

 HP: 84/99
 AC: 19; FFAC: 12; Touch: 17
CMD: 21; FFCMD: 15; FFTAC: 10

EFFECTS: haste 10/10, mirror image 110/110, fly 110/110,
GEAR: Boots, Rod, Gloves, Shirt, Cloak, Championship Belt, 2x Potion, Backpack, belt pouch, dagger, sling, component pouch, spellbook. (-0 ACP, Light Load)

   USES: Spells: L5 0/5, L4 1/7, L3 2/7, L2 1/7, L1 0/8; Claws 1/11; Breath 0/1; Rod 1/3; Belt 1/1; hero points: 1

DICE ROLLS:  Josep Gavinho rolled 15,21,16 using D20+12,d20+12,d20+12 with rolls of 3,9,4.  Quickened Empowered ScorchingRay on Maelstrom.
Josep Gavinho rolled 16 using 1d20+11 with rolls of 5.  Dispel Check (Maelstrom's invisibility).
SUMMARY: Josep tries to dispel Maelstrom's invisibility. He uses a Hero Point if necessary...
He casts a few Scorching Rays but the monk manages to dodge them all !!

My understanding is that Dispel Magic needs beat a DC18, I rolled 16 on my CL check, so I can use my hero point to beat that. Please correct me if I'm wrong, in which case I will edit my hero point use.

OOC: I think that is right. Dispel magic requires DC 11+ CL. CL for dust of disappearance is 7. So it should be DC 18 to dispel. Just my two cents.

that is how I read it aswell, just was doing some looking around to be sure wish it was specific on that it casts the spell or is it the item that holds the spell and you touching it causes the effect on you but if Maelstrom is on board go with it.

Ref, if you're ok with it here's Brakt's save:

09:41, Today: Josep Gavinho rolled 6 using 1d20 with rolls of 6.  Brakt's reflex save (without mod).

This being said, I think he is up, is he not?

Re: Team Match #4: Tina & Maelstrom vs. Brakt & Josep

Brakt simply looked at Maelstrom, who had suddenly reappeared, slowly raised his oversized scythe, and smashed it down on the monk with no subtlety whatsoever.

   ROUND: 1 (8)
POSITION: unchanged
 ACTIONS: Power attack Maelstrom

 HP: 30/130
 AC: 20; FFAC: 17; Touch: 12
CMD: 31; FFCMD: 28; FFTAC: 10

GEAR: Backpack, belt pouch, dagger, sling, component pouch, spellbook, +1 Mithril Spiked Armor, +1 Scythe of Human Bane, Belt, Amulet (-0 ACP, Light Load)
  USES: Amulet (1/1)

DICE ROLLS: -
   SUMMARY: Brakt smashes Maelstrom.

so, it appears I've messed up with the dice roller, Brakt's attack is actually d20+25, 2d8+2d6+29
Should I re-roll the whole thing, or just the damage, or just the extra damage dice? Sorry about that, I didn't realize my companion was packing a Bane Scythe and was actually just large not huge...

I took for granted a line that boadica pmd me, but I now realise I may well have misread it.

Looking back, it seems like Brakt actually took 149 damage, so unless he has some fire resistance or such, I think he's toasted before he can even attack...
