Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Raellus:
Speaking of accounting...

I'm cool with milestone leveling, if y'all would prefer that.

That seems to be the consensus, assuming Spartan's lack of explicit comment should be read as assent.

We need to determine how money is going to be kept track of. Would you like pooled party money or individual shares? I'm good with either, but the way everything is being tracked now- both individual purses on each of your char-sheets and a community stores entry in the Adventurers' Journal- there's a good chance of inadvertent double-dipping. What's your preference?

I'd prefer to track individually, as I don't want to have to deal with community pool bookkeeping every time I need to bribe someone for information.  ;)

quote:
Gronk's pretty strong and he doesn't have any armor as of yet, so if y'all need someone to carry the scimitar +1, he's your [half] man.

That's the way I was going, as he is the highest consistent-damage melee specialist.  I'll address it in my pending IC post.

(Also, I just realized that Nic isn't actually proficient with scimitars.)

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Here's what I'm thinkin': Corros, Ulfgar, and Jenna head to the inn and procure rooms, food, and baths for us.  Gronk and Nic attempt to find a legitimate jeweler who'll buy the peridot; if one isn't available, Nic will use Thieves' Cant to find a fence for the same purpose, with Gronk playing the role of his hired thug.  That will put enough coin in our pocket to satisfy our immediate basic (meta)human needs.  We take the rest of the day to clean up, heal up, and do a little bit of basic shopping, then present ourselves at the keep in the morning.  Cool?

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

OK, then. Please faithfully update your PC's purses on your respective char-sheets. Hopefully, group accounting- like pooling funds to buy a particularly pricey item- will not be a hassle.

Today was a long day and the turn post didn't come quickly or easily. I hope the quality is acceptable. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

A couple of options on the lead bandit:

1) Follow him as a giant rat or something... to see where he goes.
2) Turn into something with 40 foot movement, darkvision, and pounce/poison him ASAP.

Any suggestions?

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Following him might lead to other possibilities...

If we all go down the sewer I'm not sure how effective Jenna will be given that she's a normal human so is (I presume) lacking any night vision capability. That said I'm happy for her to do so if that's the plan.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

I'd be inclined to say the shield

On that subject - clearly my goody two shoes Priestess is big on donating to worthy causes - it's a character development thing. If you guys antticipate that causing challenges going forward (e.g. if we need to pool money to buy something and we're short because of Jenna's generosity) we can work out some sort of workaround.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

That's my inclination too.  It's worth considerably more than the 100gp we'd get otherwise (assuming Nic can't bargain up the offer any more).  Between that and the scimitar (and some lower-cost armor), it would make Gronk a rather potent 3rd-level tank.  Of course, we'd then be putting two of our three +1 items on the party NPC.

I'm personally okay with that.  With Nic's 8 STR and 16 DEX, he's never going to be using anything but finesse weapons and light armor.  But y'all may have other priorities for kitting out your characters.  Just let me know OOC before I make my next IC post.  :)

I understand how it might look but I don't want anyone to think that I'm showing favoritism to my own character by my choice of the magical items so far in play. Before I placed it in Forkbeard's cold, dead hand, I thought that Nic would be the eventual party wielder of the scimitar +1 (since its a finesse weapon). I'm not hurt that he doesn't want it. Really.

Sniffle

Gronk probably won't use the scimitar +1 (1d6 +1) much since his non-magical morning star still does 1 more point of damage (1d8) except on rolls of 1. At Pudo's, I chose to make a shield +1 available because it's a little more generic than armor (less need to worry about proficiency, style, fit, etc.). Yes, the Gronkster needs a shield, but he'd be happy to swap with Jenna or buy a regular shield somewhere else on his own dime. That said, if no one else wants it, Gronk could certainly make good use of it.

I'm good with Gronk having the magic shield. I think Jenna would feel that it was somehow disrespecting Arma to swap her Arma issue shield for another one st this stage. If that makes sense.

Per one of our PM threads, I have absolutely no idea where Nic is going to wind up with multiclassing.  The scimitar might be appropriate or it might not.  Monk is still very much on the table.

Also, I didn't want to claim both +1 weapons, and the dagger is much more directly suited to Nic's fighting style - not as a primary, but as a more concealable backup.

@All: Add 60GP to your purses. It also occurred to me that Jenna couldn't have lost much to the pickpocket. IIRC, she'd given most of her share of Forkbeard's gold to the galley slaves. The joke's on the pickpocket!

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Tegyrius is going to be out of coms until the first of November so things will probably slow down quite a bit this week. Obviously, I don't want to do anything that advances the plots while 1/4 of us aren't involved. We could use this time to do some more mundane IC stuff like shopping and whatnot, or we can just take a few day's off. I'm cool with either. What's your preference?

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

I'm good with doing shopping and such.  I need to get a herbalist kit at a minimum.  Brewer's kit would be nice, but I need either a long term place to store it, or a mule and cart to haul it around.  Much depends on if Balefyre is going to be home, or a place we are passing through.
