Can someone throw fire?

Chlainn Vacrolann:
In reply to Toirneach Lann (msg # 90):

Thought I could throw my lantern, but what if it doesn't catch fire?  We might go blind!

Its a definite risk...

In reply to GM (msg # 99):

Ah what, guess what, life and death are a dice roll away.  Chlainn, instead of grabbing his sword, slings the lantern into the ceiling above the mummy.  Maybe it'll catch fire.  Lantern will smash right?  Burning oil everywhere....

And then reach for the sword.  Lets edit my post....

Of the traditional five ways to use fire in war, I'm not quite sure which one Chlainn was aiming for there. If it was #5? That's always a tricky one to get to work properly in confined spaces.

My plan was to smash the lantern and get the mummy covered in burning oil.  Pity, it just went way past it.

Re: OOC THREAD 5

In reply to Chlainn Vacrolann (msg # 102):

A dangerous plan, but given the situation, backed up and cut off, but both Chlainn and Torineach are in fairly hefty armour as far as fire is concerned? One that has the merit of slightly limiting the potential for friendly fire incidents.

Depending on how large the annoyance in ancient armour is, you could try using the oil on the floor to your advantage, and pit the weight of two warriors against one to push him over or force him back into his previous hiding space.

These are strictly player suggestions, and you are entirely at liberty to ignore them if they don't seem tactically useful to you.

In reply to Caith Cernach (msg # 103):

Chlainn does not believe in ghosts or undead.  He's not sure what he's up against.  Might get panicked if he figures out what he's up against.

Well, we just ran out of oil.  Guess that method didn't work.  No rules for knockdown and I wouldn't want the GM to have to improvise that.  If we switched places Lann could focus on his artillery....

Re: OOC THREAD 5

In reply to Chlainn Vacrolann (msg # 104):

Apparently undead that believes in mortals is going to be the issue here, and even if panic sets in, where the hell does Chlainn run screaming to retreat to find safer ground to cower on?

Technically speaking, Chlainn and Torineach haven't run out of oil, it's just relocated to the wall and floor. Still burns if lit. That's a temporary barrier of sorts.

In hindsight, I apologize for the Charge! suggestion, as pushing and shoving on a slippery floor might be a bad plan, even without specific rules for it.

As to trading places? Chlainn takes Horse stance, and let the acrobat warlock Torineach dive under and through to behind him. Admittedly, if the Centurion is a large chap, the dive through and under trick might work on him as well, though it may not work so great on a less obliging target. Acrobatics has rules already, right?

In reply to Chlainn Vacrolann (msg # 106):

Even if Lann* just crouches down, rather than attempting a dive through, that would give Chlainn a clear LOS.

He could probably still stab the Centurion from there too, with hopefully less chance of slipping over in the process.

As I said, these are all just suggestions.

*I've been trying to remind myself how to spell 'Torineach', but 'Lann' is way easier.

If it's flexible armour, rather than rigid sections of metal plate, that's helpful too.

Re: OOC THREAD 5

In reply to Toirneach Lann (msg # 110):

I think Lann might find that someone already did just that...

If that works in time, then Chlainn might even get the drink he wants, though it will be the medical spirit, as the last of the good stuff is spoken for.

EDIT:
I have no idea how to fix Chlainn's specific doom off hand, but I can say that it all depends on what kind of doom it is.

So don't give up hope just yet.

It's basically a curse that requires a dispel magic to dispel. Maybe u can reach level 6 by then? Not sure if my terminate enchantment works!

Brannon has already lit his lantern when Chlainn headed off.

GM:
Behind him Brannon sat in the now darkened chamber, though the lack of light did not seem to trouble the miners....

I thought it was Caith's lantern Usopi took?  Has he just walked off with Brannon's?! If not, I'll get mine lit. If so, then I guess I don't have much choice but to wait in the dark! :D

In reply to Brannon Darrow (msg # 115):

I know Caith lit a lantern to bring down with her, and that last I knew, Chlainn had it back by the 'mirror of paranoia'. To be fair it's just a broken lantern, such things happen in battle, and Brannon isn't exactly alone in the dark at the moment.

Lol, did everyone have a lantern starting out? All I know is Chlainn at first had mine and I had Caith's.
