We've just arrived at in the Jorrett system to meet with Dr. Ja’Brenn. He is the lead scientist we’ll be working with. Our orders are to help supervise the field test of a new, improved quantum torpedo that Ja’Brenn and his team are currently developing with possible use against the Dominion should war breakout.  Starfleet Intelligence has concerns that, other parties may know about and intend to steal the device, including both the Romulan Star Empire and the Dominion. The crew is expected to be on alert and to provide whatever security measures are needed to ensure no one gains access to the potential weapon. It can’t be stressed enough that the Federation doesn’t want even their supposed allies to have access to something that could conceivably affect the balance of power in the quadrant.


In a bit of irony, we are meeting Dr. Ja’Brenn on Jouret IV, which anyone familiar with Federation history remembers as the site where the Borg scooped up the colony there.  The Federation is trying to reestablish that site and Dr. Ja'Brenn has been using the facilities there to develop the quantum torpedo.  I'm sending an away team headed by Cmdr Geary to meet with Dr. Ja'Brenn and finalize arrangements for the field-test procedures:
