Things have been busy these last few months.  The company is going well, but it is daily fight to keep things running.  The media, 'cancel culture', the random 'dumb' employee, and a new campaign has been continual for the last few months.  At the end of a busy day (which tends to end at 8 pm or later), you finally have 15 minutes by yourself in your office.  And your office, so your drink, your music and nobody can really tell you no.

<knock, knock, knock> Since your assistant isn't there, it cannot be her.  A male's voice says, "Can I come in?"

You know the voice, but it is hard to place.  Then it dawns on you; Shadow....  Again?  Damn it!!!

Rei has the good bottle of wine from her usually locked lower desk drawer currently on her desk with a glass of it in her hand. Her suit jacket is unbuttoned and her shoes are off as she leans back listening to J-pop from her personal smartphone blaring from her bluetooth speaker on her desk. Hiromi left for their shared penthouse an hour ago before she started on the press release on her laptop before her which she just finished a second draft of. She decides the polish can wait until tomorrow.

The knock at the door gets her attention, and the voice asking to come in is odd until she places it. She asks, "What do you want?"

Walking through the door, comes an average sized man (assumed).  Goggles, various pads and light armor plates, combat boots, web belt and all the other makings of a special ops.  The gun holster on his bandoleer is empty (unlike his nightstick holder, his taser holster and his boot knife) and his hands are in the air.  "I come in peace.  I just came to talk.  Wow...nice place.  I don't have anything half this nice.  J-Pop...really?  I would have assumed classical.  I still have some people that want to talk to you.  I'm really surprise that they didn't talk to you soon...seems so obvious."



As close as I can find...

She sighs as she sits up, "My mother's family is in Japan."
She then says says, "I'm easy enough to get in contact with and have a meeting scheduled."
"You can have a drink if you want. Bar is beside you. I keep some better whiskeys and scotch for those that like it," she says motioning toward the small bar area.
Standing up and swirling her wine a bit she says, "Looks like I get to send a memo to security after you're gone."
She reaches down with her free hand and shuts off the music.

Wondering aimlessly around the office, "Oh...I wasn't saying you couldn't listen to J-Pop, but that I thought with these digs, you would be listening to classical.  Or jazz....  I'm working, so no whiskey...thanks."

He points back to the door, "You saw that, right?  What is some poor security guard going to do to stop a guy that walks through walls."  He isn't touching anything (purposely walking around with his hands behind his back), but is looking over everything.

"You remember when we talked last, I said I had somebody that would want to talk to you?  So I talked to them and they do want to talk to you.  Doc says it you would be a good place to start.  You're public, have some street cred, and have high value abilities."

He stops in front of your desk, "What do you think?  He may even buy...."

"I have non-alcoholic beverages in the fridge below the bar if you're thirsty," she responds.

Her office is open with a couch against a partition wall that separates from a small conference table. There is nice art on the walls, but nothing terribly expensive or extravagant. Opposite the conference area on the other side of the desk are couches surrounding a nice coffee table.

At his response to walking through walls she smiles, "You would be amazed."

"So who is this Doc?," Rei asks while sipping her wine.

He eventually stops walking around and plops down on the couch, "Well...Doc is Doc.  We all ain't so out in the open you know.  I know...I know...'how am I supposed to trust somebody if they won't trust me?'  You just need to have a little faith."  When he says 'how...' he uses a higher pitched voice and his hand as a puppet.

"Look...things are not bad right now, things have been quiet in some ways.  But if you've ever had an itch that just won't go away...I think that is what is coming to the city.  I don't know what and I don't know when, it is coming.  Doc feels it too...he just goes on his data instead of intuition."

As Shadow meanders, Rei swivels her chair to follow him until he is to her right on the couch against the partition.

"If you want faith, you need a priest. I deal in public relations which is all about perception to the cynical. Lucky for you, I'm not a cynic. I haven't felt anything odd or out of place, but I'm not in tune with this city as I am Paris or even Tokyo. Now you did say something about this Doc buying. Dinner, I would guess?"

Her wine glass has now been passed from her right hand to her left and set upon her desk with only her fingers touching the base as she converses.

"Ahh..great.  I thought this would have been harder...but this is good.  I'll make you a deal, I'll stop by tomorrow with details.  You can fire that poor security dude and see if the new guy does any better.  Sound good?"

Arching an eyebrow she shakes her head, "No one will be fired over you being here. There is nothing anyone can currently do to prevent that." Then she smile, "Yet."

She then says, "Call the front desk and have them forward you to my assistant and leave the details with her. I have meetings all day tomorrow."

"ha...that sounds like a challenge.  I'll make sure you have a call tomorrow.  I'm guessing 8 PM isn't to late for a dinner."

He gets up and walks out of the office, "Thank you and see you soon."

As Shadow leaves Rei responds, "See you tomorrow night."

Once he's gone, she turns her music back on and drafts a quick email to the head of security with the North America company President and her father at the home office CCed about the possible dangers of people who can walk through walls or bypass them and a need to find ways to protect vital areas of corporate property from such individuals.

She then puts the wind bottle back into her bottom drawer and finishes her glass before alerting the front desk of her leaving as she heads to the roof. From the roof, she flies home.

The remaining evening is uneventful.  You do get an email from the head of security that is a little confused; it does request more information, will seek the video for the building, but does say he will research the issue.
