Re: The Journey North

The ice troll is dead, it's form melting like ice in the desert. Drifts of steam linger as the party gathers together over the spell book. The excitement is palpable.

ooc: I'll draw up the spellbook's contents tonight or tomorrow. Congrats!

It will be 1-3 level spells. Much like you, I like the esoteric type of spells. Thrilled with Rope Trick than Ahren got. Love that spell.

I'll have something for you today.

Re: The Journey North

Not likely.

Okay so you've defeated the Ice Troll and grabbed the spellbook. There's a certain beauty to the near arctic conditions, but you are cold and ready to head back. Any last minute items you'd like to accomplish in the great white north?

Yes, we'd like to find the troll's lair and plunder its treasure!

Please and thank you.

Re: The Journey North

the spell book wasn't enough? Tough crowd...LOL.

You search the area for the trolls treasure; it dawns on you that it probably kept the treasure in the stream. Efforts to find it on ledge are fruitless.

Someone's gonna have to take the plunge.

Turning to Elora, Kal said, "Darling, do you have some magic that will keep me warm? Aside from your love, that is." He began to lay a huge fire...

"Blue and small, I would think, like some tiny faery just in from the cold." He stripped and slipped into the water, seeking the treasure where they had determined it might lie.

Re: The Journey North

"Brrrrrr," he cries out. As quickly as possible, he dives down. As he swims around the clear water, he finds himself facing a troll that is slowly regenerating. Nearby is a small coffer. The troll seems very slow in its movements. The coffer isn't more than he can handle. Breaching the surface, he passes up the coffer to Agrax waiting hands, then jumps out and gets as close to the fire as he can. Elora and Pious both rub him down with their cloaks in effort to warm him up, then help him into his winter gear. He's stuttering from the cold, but passes along the others that it appears the troll isn't dead.

Re: The Journey North

Your companions can see the troll in a prismatic sort of way - light reflects and refracts as he heals in kaleidoscope of colors. He's still under water, though; it looks like this type of troll heals slower than other types.

OOC: keep in mind, if you can get it to the surface, your sword will be most effective in killing it.

Just a helpful FYI.

Re: The Journey North

Agrax studies the water, readies her halberd. Holding it like a spear fisher, she launches the weapon downward at an angle for best effect.

It's a good try, but she doesn't quite account for enough of an angle. Still, she has the lanyard around her wrist and pulls weapon out of the water.

For her part, Elora casts two magic missiles which total 8pts of damage. The troll looks nearly spent. As Pious begins to chant a blessing, the creature leaps out of the water and attacks Kalmus with two claws. The beastie tags you for 7pts of damage, but you got him out of the water. You're attack, Kalmus!

The die roller loves me, quick more combat before it recovers.

Re: The Journey North

Double D, Brother. Elora just got wet. You'll get some leg for sure. Nicely played!

The troll jumps out of the water and scores two wicked claw attacks. For a moment he thinks he's got you. But not to be outdone, Kal comes back with a burst of fury! Flame ignites along the blade of his sword, and Kal dances to his own tune as he lands a critical blow!

Steam rises. A piercing shriek rends the surrounds. And then, as you watch, the Ice Troll melts into nothingness and is no more.

Your bounty, sirrah: 1600sp, 800gp & the Beginners Spellbook (I've already set you up with that on your character sheet).

OOC: this is fun game. Every time I come back to it we kind of do something different. I've already got the next adventure in my mind. Difficulty goes up a bit...but with greater risk comes greater reward...as they say.
